Broke my fibula coming off San Gorgonio on Oct 9th. Also destroyed my ankle with a grade 3 sprain. Needed sure footed shoes to race the Trans Rockies Moab Run the Rocks stage race March 3-4-5. Could not have picked a better shoe for the slickrock we ran on in Moab all weekend. Watched other runners slide off the rock with cushioned shoes that will remained unnamed ;-) These Salomon Speedcross 6 felt just snug enough to not feel "sloppy" with enough to toe room to avoid bruising my nails. Minimal break in period needed (maybe 10 miles). Only caveat is they do have a high arch. Felt strange at first but got used to the support quickly. Highly recommend.

poor quality

I wore these shoes for approximately one month. The heals have already worn out! I am extremely disappointed since I paid $140 plus tax for these shoes and I have worn Solomons for many years and nothing like this has ever happened. Has the quality gone down? The price certainly has not.

Soul issues in both wear and adhesion

A comfortable shoe that has had a very poor thread wear and the soul is now peeling. This shoe has had ~100 trail miles and 20 paved miles. Yikes, not the same quality that I had from their Speedcross 5 shoe

Okay Even After 500km+

I have 511.67 km on these shoes. They are warm, they are meant for trails and snow, I have used them for all sorts of runs even neglecting a lot of my other shoes. Has worn down on the outter edges on bottoms of the treads but still has potential to be used for many more km. I have size 14 feet and probably should get the wide versions for a better fit but have done okay so far in these they fit well regardless. They are my favorite Salomons so far but I am still hoping to find something that is more mixed terrain oriented, for trails and snow or ice these are perfect, but for treadmill or for Asphalt and pavement some other shoes I have do better.

Impressed after 70+ miles

Writing this review after about 70 miles of tough alpine trails and hope to update throughout the life of the shoe. These shoes are very comfortable, even after weeks of backpacking on-trail. The lacing system is quick, easy, and very effective. Taking-off, putting-on, tightening, and loosening are all very quick to do and a big improvement from traditional lacing. The tread feels great on flat ground but is also aggressive enough to perform well in scree, loose dirt, and mud. The mud/water guard around the perimeter of the shoe does a great job of keeping your feet dry from puddles and shallow creek crossings. The fabric is durable, but still allows my feet to breathe and dries quickly. Seldom do shoes stand up to the abuse I put them through, but these are holding up admirably. The tread, although worn some, has held up well with plenty left for me to burn through. The only signs of damage are on the rubber toe cap, the very top lip has started to separate and peel back very slightly. While this doesn’t negatively impact the shoe yet, without intervention it will continue to separate over time. I super-glued the edge of the lip and will continue to monitor. These are my second pair of Salomon trail-runners and I do not hesitate in recommending these shoes. I plan to buy a fresh pair next year for my Colorado Trail thru-hike.

Professional Softball approved

My friends and I have been wearing Salomon's to play the highest levels of softball for over 10 years. We have consistently found that the fit is comfortable, even for long weekends with 10+ games. The grip is amazing on dirt, clay, outfield grass, artificial turf and even on wet days. I have NEVER had a shoe fall apart, rip or deteriorate even after punishing them in temps as low as 17 degrees and as high as 118 degrees (Vegas, Palm Springs). Easy on and easy off with the best quicklace system I have found. Would like to see a bit more color variations, but that's just personal preference. I wish we could get someone local to sell/distribute these...everyone asks how to buy them on the spot.

Dreadful quality! Probably the worst I've owned.

Well, got these a while back as an occasional shoe. I tend to buy a good walking shoe for walking, as in good walks, and have a pair of demoted shoes as dog walking shoes. Walking boots are amongst the few things in life I spend a bit on in the hope of finding quality, and looking after my feet etc. Had these as occasional good walsk, probably been out 10 times in 6 months, the heel went as the material used is cheap. Behind the material is a horribly sharp heel, that cuts your feet no warning. Had these replaced under warranty, the 2nd pair have done the exact same thing in less walks. Lost confidence in them, wouldn't wear them but even with minimal wear, the same thing has happened. They're in the bin now as I'm out of the 2 year warranty, but trust me when I say these were am occasional grippy shoe for a good walk. I've had gym trainers that I've battered a good few times a week that are still perfect. Stay away from these and I'd suggest this brand. They're cutting costs with cheap materials and your feet and bank ballance will pay the price.

Brilliant as always

These are now my 6th pair of speedcross and are the only brand that I return to without fail. This time I’m opted to try the wide fit as I have always had to buy a whole size larger than I am in the regular due to how narrow they are. Even going smaller, these are a perfect fit, just with more room for my toes. I haven’t done a lot in them, just a few very wet and muddy trail races through peat bog and rivers! but as always they have been super grippy and my confidence to tackle the dirty stuff has remained high at all times. Only thing I’d like is more choice of colours in the wide fit. But over all would highly recommend.

A bit of a letdown

I was really excited to get my 3rd pair (in 5 years) even though I still wear my first two. I am somewhat disappointed with the way the tongues on both R and L shoes fall to the side. Both of my old pairs I can slide into and then tighten but the new ones I have to bend over or lift my foot, grab the tongue and pull it out of the way in order to slide my foot in. Once my foot is in place everything is great. I know this sounds like silliness but you asked for an honest review. Not sure if the engineering or sewing design is different or if I got a funky pair but If I could return them I would. I find myself preferring to wear the old ones rather than my brand new shoes because the new ones require 2 hands and a bend or lift in order to put them on.
