Solved all my lighter problems

I had been taking those disposable long-necked Bic lighters with me on trips to safely light camping stoves, wood burning fireplaces, and campfires but they were AWFUL. Not only did I hate the waste, but they just never worked. I routinely stood there clicking them over and over again just to finally get a small flame that went out almost immediately. And then I found this lighter. I love it. It's long enough to safely light everything without getting my fingers in the way of erupting flames. It lights the first time, every time (pro tip: Even if you don't see the flame, it's lit. Don't put it near your fingers to be sure). It was super easy to fill and I love that I can refill it as needed instead of having to throw it away when it's empty. Highly recommend.

This lighter is terrible. After filling it with fuel and waiting 4 hours (!) as specified in the instructions, the lighter fails to light, while discharging a thin stream of compressed air and FUEL for at least 10 seconds, accompanied by a hissing sound. Eventually I got it to light after it was nearly empty. The blue flame lasted, no joke, about 5 seconds before the lighter ran out of fuel. I got this for cheap on sale, and I’m still going through the hassle of retuning it…it’s that bad. Do not purchase this.

Great lighter

I use this backpacking as a reliable, safe, efficient option. It does weigh a bit more than a tiny lighter, but to me the weight is worth it. It IS windproof. It DOES light everything. The other reviewers must have had issues with air in the fuel reservoir, which admittedly can be an issue with refillable butane lighters. Easy fix, just purge the air and refill. I have not had such issues with this. I even use it as work as a waiter to light birthday cake candles. If you think lighting a campstove after a 15 Mike hike in 20 mph wind would be your top priority, you've never had to light a birthday cake as a waiter in front of an entire restaurant! 😉

Bountiful design, poorly engineered

I spent the extra money hoping for a wind resistant fire starter. Never worked even after hours of depressurizing. Owners manual suggests trouble shooting solutions that are very time consuming and complicated. Good products should not be overly complicated especially ones that are higher priced. A BIC lighter from 7/11 is more reliable and trustworthy than this overpriced item is. You would think at nearly $30 for a lighter that you would have a quality control screening in place. Nope, not this one. Buyer be warned...

Awesome (if and when it works)!

We are the beta testers, you and I, for this lighter. It can be awesome, but it is not. To get it to light consistently, you have to monkey with the flame adjustment every time. I WOULD NOT count on this lighter as your sole ignition source, it WILL let you down. The design is cool and it seems to be made well, it’s just inconsistent. It also stays lit after releasing the trigger, which should probably be a CPSC recall.

Product is hit or miss

One of three is working. First one not, second one was a replacement and is still working a year later. So I bought a third because I wanted 2 of them for different purposes, but it didn't last a month, and returned it today. I'm going to try to replace this second one, but I'll buy two of them, they're very inexpensive. But if they fail, one or both, I'll revisit this review if I can and leave a comment. I guess I'm just border line masochistic, lol. Also, I rated it 2 stars because one still is working fine.

Lights about 1/8 of the time. Fully loaded with fuel and this thing rarely lights when clicked. Really undependable. I just want to throw it far away!

terrible lighter

Worst lighter I have ever bought. I brought it with me on my backpacking trip and it never lit once. Only gas came out there wasn't a spark or anything then eventually I ran out of fuel. I didn't bring the fuel to refill it sense I was backpacking. Luckily I brought some matches, but I dont recommend this lighter at all.

Reusable lighter is like a tiny blowtorch!

I like being able to refill my lighter so I don’t have to use disposable ones. Plus the flame is like a small torch! Works great for several camp situations. I have been using it now for over 2 years and use it several times a month when camping and around the house.

Stay away, you’ll be disappointed!

I have other ignik products that I love but this one is horrible. Filled it with butane as instructed, and it simply will not light. I got it started a few times but the flame goes out immediately. Thank goodness I had my 99 cent bic lighter which did a better job. Read the reviews, this lighter is bad and not worth the money.
