Favorite Chelsea Boot!
I love these boots! Extremely well made (like all Danner boots) and comfortable straight out of the box with virtually no break in period. Mine fit true to size (I have three other pairs of Danners and they are all size 11) and the SOLES DO NOT SMELL AT ALL! (No idea what that person is talking about). Definitely buy these if you are on the fence!

Start off with the only negative thing I have to say. The color isn’t accurate until the picture when some person is finally wearing them. After that it pretty close to the dark brown it truly is. Idk the first few pics give it a brown color like you get from red wings. I did like how easy the boots are to take on/ off. REI offers only standard wide and I feel like they are true to size. I’m a wide foot but have they feel ok for being the first day having them. The break in period will make them feel better. REI has this listed as unlined interior but it has mesh. The review that knocks the boots for not being good in icy cold weather is true but wedge soles are not made for that. You want something with a lugged outsole like you see on bluestones. I can see a person with narrow feet. I agree with how these boots having no bounce feel or play. Once again that’s just how these shoes are. This is a work boot at the end of the day. They aren’t horrible blocks on your feet and I like them.
Very dissapointing
i was really excited to get this boot, i have another pair of danners that i've had for 14 years and were resoled twice, so i thought this was a bargain of 200$ vs. $400, especially made for usa. 1) the size seems really off, these seem to run very small. i had to take the insole out completely or replace it with a very thin one because in a medium sock this boot is extremely snug for my regular size (12). 2) the boots are stiff and heavy. i suppose that's fine but i expected the to break in and i just don't see this boot ever breaking in, it feels like having a wooden block around your feet. 3) there's really something wrong with the soles. someone here wrote about their heel hurting, i've developed an extreme pain in my heel from this boot to the point that i'm returning it. it's just a very uncomfortable shoe to walk with, there's no play what so ever and i think you always end up striking with your heel and there's very little padding there. 4) i bought these thinking that these could be 4 season type boots, but the sole is almost flat so there's absolutely no grip on it. any sort of wet surface, muddy, snowy or icy this boot is useless. so this makes it only a dry/warm weather boot at which point it's too hot and too heavy, so it really has no purpose.
Best Slip on Boots
Great boot! Threw away my Blundstones after buying these. American made 🇺🇸 Danner boots are the best hands down. These boots have a wide footbed, highest quality leather, sewn on sole, great trip-free vibram sole, easy break in. Worn almost daily for two years and have no regrets. Might just last a lifetime, my other Danner boots lasted 15 years of hard use. These too are built to last!
Very comfortable
The overall fit was right on and "very" comfortable with my 180 lbs 5'10" frame! It fit both well, as I replaced the default cushion with my padded prescription ortho footwear. I should of bought two pairs of these quality Chelsea boots. I use it indoors and around the farm, do-it-yourself work. - - No, I don't work for either business. It is enlightening to know these boots can be resoled or rebuilt. That is a significant future plus value in today's market. Thank you to the Danner Boot Company and REI.
New everyday shoes.
These quickly became my everyday shoes. Whether I was sitting at my office all day or out running errands on my day off, these are fantastic. I love Danner products and would by them again. I have had them for almost a year and they are still in fantastic condition.
Danner quality made in the USA
Great fit, very comfortable and true to size. The quality of the boot is excellent. Standard (D) and (EE) widths available. Made in USA and re-craftable.
Meh
Size is off. I wear an 11 in other Danner boots and these are much larger. Also, these are a heavy boot (positive IMO), but know that these are crafted to last! I ordered from REI to take advantage of the $30 off but shipping took longer than expected (ordered 12/31, delivered 1/9). Returns have to go back to store else pay $5.99 to return.
Smelly sole of boot makes it unbearable
I really loved these. However, after 4 months the outer soles of the boots began to smell so bad, cat urine/mildewy/musty, that I had to stop wearing them and they now live out in the garage as I will be looking to return this garbage.
Heel cup too short
The quality seems to be high and everything but my heel bone hurts so much after just few minutes of wearing it, the cup is just too short.
