“Needs Improvement!”
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like that Life Straw Personal Water Filter is easy to take along every where I go and it’s made very well! I tried to screw my water bottle into the end of the Life Straw but it wouldn’t work but I did find that it worked with my spray bottle bottom so I used that instead. I am able to sip water from the Life Straw easily to be able to drink but as far as being able to blow air back into the straw to keep filter clean, I haven’t been able to do so at all which makes me very worried about cleanliness. So that is why I am only giving 3 stars.
Works well, some hang ups
The Lifestraw does a good job filtering water but I did run across some issues. First of all there is an end cap that is difficult to remove and will get lost easily. You must have this end cap on it for storage, so I do believe this will be the biggest issue. I dropped it every time I used it. Second, the instructions say you can attach it to your hydration pack. I tried to attach it to my Mazama and my Gregory, could not do it. It does attach to a SmartWater bottle and my filtering bladder with the same end. It is kind of long, sticks up out of my backpack side pocket, so I am afraid it will fall out. Don't want to store it in my bigger compartments because it will leak and it is harder to reach. If you are hiking in an area with many water sources this device allows you to carry less water because you can just use it when you need it or keep it on your SmartWater bottle. No squeezing needed. I tried it with a Crystal Geyser bottle and that did not work, so I cut the top off my bottle and made a cup, which worked perfectly. It will also filter a large amount of water by gravity if you need it to. The instructions say to blow it out often as a back flow, which is easier than other filter's backflow process. You also need to store it with salt water when not in use for more than a month to keep the membrane wet.
A handy water filter that's easy to carry
The LifeStraw is a handy, easy to carry, water filter. It's great for personal use, especially in an emergency when you need some water. I found it easy to use for personal drinking. It is not a solution for purifying water for a group camping when you are trying to purify a few gallons of water. I also wish it had a straw to attach to the bottom to extend the length and make it easier to drink out of streams and ponds. Otherwise a great solution for purifying water!

I got to use this on my trail runs and a few day hikes. Around $20. I absolutely love it! A lightweight (2 oz) plastic case that contains a membrane microfilter that can filter 500 gallons before needing to be replaced. LifeStraw removes 99.99+ percent of bacteria, parasites, and microplastics, making almost any water source potable. Open the cap, dip into a water source, prime the filter and you are ready. Universal threading on the bottom end means it can be screwed into a water bottle or filtration system.
Convenient Features
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Being prepared when hiking or mountain biking is sometimes difficult. Carrying enough water in case of emergencies can weigh down the backpacks. Having a LifeStraw along for the ride makes me feel ready for any emergency. I've had other LifeStraws, but the Peak Series provides some convenient features, which I prefer. The option to use a disposable water bottle to collect water from a stream and screw it onto the LifeStraw is the best feature! This makes it much easier to use the LifeStraw instead of having to bend down to the water source and drink from the stream into the filter. The compact design makes it fit in my bike bags. Highly recommend.
Great travel accessory
I took this LifeStraw along on a recent journey to Chiapas Mexico. I have a long history of using the LifeStraw water filtration bottle. I was excited to see the straw, which is reported to be for direct use, attachment to water bottle, or tubing to water bladder. I found the water of good taste, and clarity. I attempted all applications, but found difficulty in attaching to a water bottle in country. This is lightweight, easy to pack, and likely something I will continue to use.
Getting giardia might be easier
DO NOT BUY. Perhaps the most thoughtlessly designed product currently on the market. The storage instructions require you to keep the bottom cap closed and pour a bleach solution into the top cap. Of course, with the bottom cap closed, this doesn't really work. Then, you are to replace the bleach solution with a saline solution, seal the product, immerse it in more saline solution (this step is only on-line, not in the booklet), and store it in a sealed, reusable container. If you don't do all of this nonsense, it will grow mold or the filter will dry out and not draw water. Unless you want to do this science experiment repeatedly, congratulations on buying a disposable piece of plastic junk to help fill the landfills. It would be better for the environment, and perhaps simpler to simply get giardia and have it treated.
Great for Hiking
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We hike and camp a lot so the LifeStraw will come in handy for both. I like the personal water filter straw for a few reasons. Just to have in on hand in case of emergency, for a filtering device and to take hiking. I like that I removes 99.9 percent of E. coli, parasites, and microplastics too.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This life straw is so cool and most likely one of the easiest things to carry to guarantee safe water to drink. My favorite feature is the ability to filter water from a bottle when screwed on. We recently went on a camping trip where the water was very questionable and thankfully I had the life straw with me. We would fill water bottles from there fountain and just filter the water right from the bottle into our cups. I rarely ever travel without it now because it is small enough to fit in your pocket but has the so much value. I highly recommend this to anyone who does outdoor activities or anywhere where water quality could be questioned.
