Best Sun Shirt on the Market
Lillers

I own sun shirts from Patagonia, Mountain Hardwear and ExOfficio. This Echo is by far the best. It's the lightest weight - key when being used as it is intended, a sun shirt. The cut is slightly generous, but not too much that it looks dumpy. The hood is sized right to offer shade, but not tight that is hampers breathability. I have this model and a previous version and the update to the sleeves with the thumb holes is a welcome improvement. I use this for beach/pool time, hiking/backpacking, biking and for various other pursuits that require sun coverage. I also own the quarter zip version, but prefer the having a hood. This is the best of the best in sun shirts.

Wow, I could not hate this shirt more. The entire thing is sheer -- I can see straight through both layers of fabric. And the sizing is off; it's much tighter than anticipated. I will be returning this.

Lightweight - Perfect Option in the Summer Heat

I was a little apprehensive about wearing a long sleeved shirt in the summertime, but I absolutely hate sunscreen. I probably tried on seven different long-sleeved sun shirts at my local REI, but this one was by far the lightest weight and most breathable. It was also the most expensive, but it has been worth every penny and I intend to purchase more. I've worn it the last 4 weekends in a row in 90 degree heat in the Texas sun. I'm usually a small, but my store didn't have a size small in stock and I didn't have time to have one delivered, so I got a medium--for reference, I'm 5'2 ~125 lbs and it is slightly big (sleeves are a bit long and it's definitely loose), but I'm perfectly content with the larger size. I think the small would have been more form-fitting and maybe not as comfortable in the heat. I absolutely LOVE the thumbholes for protecting my hands and the hood is perfect for protecting my neck (both back and front), ears, and even part of my face. It's seriously so lightweight I can barely tell that I have it on. I've worn it in the blistering sun for hours at a time and did not get a sunburn. I think my only complaint is that the ponytail hole is a little lower than I would like so that is not super useful, but my hair is not that long anyway so it's not a huge deal. I've climbed multiple times in it and have cleared out brush at a local park and it's still in great shape--no noticeable snags or anything. I can't recommend this shirt enough--it's awesome!

My favorite sun shirt!

I love this hoodie! At this point I own it in nearly every color they make. It's my go-to hiking and sometimes biking shirt. I find the grid pattern more breathable than some of my other sunshirts which is great for long days hiking on exposed sections of trail. My only con is that it does snag due to the thinness of the shirt, but they haven't ripped on me yet despite multiple trips and snags in brush and brambles. Wouldn't go out hiking without it!

This is my hiking shirt forever.

I’ve tried plants hiking shirts, notably the Dixie famous pfg Colombia fishing shirt, which is comfortable but I don’t wear a hate and I’m very pale. So I switched to a sun hoodies and bought 6-7 on Amazon to try and return the ones I didn’t like. Well this sun hoodie was one of those and I fell in love. I love that I don’t need sunblock or bug spray with this shirt and my hiking pants because I’m fully covered but I’m not sweating bullets because it’s so thin and light. I love the hood of the suns on my neck and if it’s cold I just layer up. Also on the east coast with their humidity, it was usually the only piece of clothing dry in the morning. Don’t think I’ll be able to find anything I’ll love more than this shirt.

Fit is very odd. Hood is too tight.

I have an OR astroman hoodie and love it. I assumed this was pretty much the same thing without the 1/4 zipper and pocket. I couldn’t have been more wrong. This is a different material. Not pleasant and very skin clingy whereas the astroman sorta naturally lays free of your skin. Its cut is very “shlumpy” for lack of a better word. It’s see through and the seams are really bulky. The hood is extremely close cut. It has a hem around the outside that sorta clings. There’s no airflow under the hood. You cannot comfortably pull this over your ballcap without feeling very constricted and choked. It is super lightweight.

Stains and tears easily, also smells!

I'm a big fan of OR technical clothes and this item is by far the biggest disappointment I've had. The style, fit, and lightweight aspects are great, but after wearing this shirt a few times in Costa Rica, I had stains across my back from my binocular straps (which I've had for years and have never stained any other clothes), coffee stains, juice, literally anything that touches the fabric I can't get out in the wash. The armpits have also already stained after a few wears and it definitely isn't odor resistant. I wouldn't recommend it for sure, at least not any light colored top because of the staining issue. I got the orange one, looked cute until it got all gross. It looks like I've had this thing for years with intense use and I just bought it like 2 months ago.

I own many of these!

I almost exclusively wear Echo tops now, for biking, hiking, backpacking. Only on the very hottest days would I probably reach for something else. Even then, it would have to be pretty darned hot. I love these, the weight is perfect, the hood with the ponytail slot is very nice, I have had many women ask me where I got this shirt, they notice that ponytail! Great for sun protection too! I think I have about 4 or 5 of these now. And I am sure I will keep adding. They are lightweight, and they snag easily. So I know they won't last forever. But they are perfect for what I want in a top for outdoor wear!

Best sun hoodie ever!

I love this sun hoodie. It is so nice and light and the hood actually stays up and protects you from the sun. I love that I can stick my ponytail out the back and actually keep my hood up in wind and skiing downhill, it does not fly off. I always feel so hot with a hood on but this one is not too bad. I will never buy another sun hoodie, these are the best. I highly recommend!

Essential multipurpose layer

I got this base layer last year for hiking 14ers in CO and trail running, and it is absolutely wonderful. I love the sun protection without having to reapply sun screen every hour. It is super lightweight and breathable in the heat but is also useful for keeping the chill off in the morning. There are a few spots where it has begun to wear through but it's not super bad. Overall I would buy this again and recommend. One con for me are the colors. OR... What the heck are this year's colors? Who wears bright orange/yellow and hot pink? The good colors go so quickly. And the second con is they don't have a thumb hole like the men's last season.

Wanted to love this hoodie....

When you first put this hoodie on, it feels amazing. The color is beautiful, the fit perfect-shaped for a woman but definitely not form fitting, perfect length....and so on. Unfortunately here's the deal-if you plan to use this for anything outdoors that you might get a little dirty at, this isn't the shirt you want. It snags so easily, making the wonderful feeling you had at first become jaded. It stains with almost everything and within minutes you feel like a mess. I'm a river guide so I live in these style shirts on a daily basis and I wanted to love this shirt but I can't honestly recommend if you are someone who "gets into an activity "..::
