Very reliable do-it-all tires
These are my go to road and gravel tires for several years now. I use the 40c size, and I am able to do all kinds of gravel and still get road KOMs. I've had a couple punctures over the course of like 6,000 miles, and one sealed on its own, while I used a so-called bacon strip on the other, both lasted until I ended up buying a new set.
Unexpectedly excellent for e-commuting
I use these on my heavy commuting e-bike. That's probably not what they were intended for, but they work perfectly. I run them tubeless at 40psi and the abuse they put up with is impressive. With a squirt of silicone spray beforehand, they mount easily on WTB ST i23 rims.
Looks great but incompatible with my rim
I ride a recumbent trike with 700c rear wheel. I’ve used tubeless tires for many thousands of miles. I wanted to buy from REI vs online and I’m happy I did. This tire went on and seated upon the bead more quickly and easily than several other brands in prior use. However, about 30 min after I put it on the rear, while replacing front tires, the Maxxis blew off the rim with a deafening explosion. I found it virtually impossible to stay on the rim afterward irrespective of how low air pressure. Did not over inflate other than the initial burst from my compressor to seat the bead. I’m happy to say my local REI is just up the street. They had another tire in stock which they set up and installed at no charge other than sealant. I was given an immediate refund on the Maxxis. I suppose some tires are simply incompatible with some wheels. ICE trikes are built in Cornwall England. Good wheels tubeless ready. This is my first time ever having a tire blow off a rim after install. Your mileage may differ.
