NRS Axiom Drysuit
The new Axiom drysuit is the new gold standard for breathability and flexibility in drywear. Frankly, I’ve never been in such a comfortable front zip drysuit in my life and I appreciate the attention to detail when NRS designed this suit; nothing was overlooked on this one. What I probably like best about the Axiom is its breathability. Maybe I’m getting soft but being cold/wet/ and clammy is not on my list of enjoyable experiences these days. This suit really allowed me to layer to meet the conditions and it’s really nice knowing that you’ll stay dry from sweat or the river. The Axiom’s an easy decision; this one gets my full recommendation.
Nice but neck WAY too tight
I really wanted to like this suit. It looked well made and fit me in every way EXCEPT the neck was WAY too tight. I couldn't stand to be in it. I found myself constantly reaching for the neck and pulling it away so I could breath. I knew I would stop kayaking if I had to wear it! I am 6'2" and weigh 230 lbs. I had the XXL. I called NRS when I noticed that the neck gasket was stamped with an XL, it even though the suit itself was an XXL. They said that was the biggest neck gasket they had and the one they put on that suit. Even so, it was the neoprene outer layer (not the latex gasket) that was the main factor in making it so tight.
Great Drysuit!
This is a fantastic Product from NRS. The first thing I love is the fabric. The breathable GoreTex fabric really works to limit sweating in the suit even on warm days. The fabric also appears to be quite durable. I also love the zippers on this suit. The zipper is more flexible than on other suits I've had so the part near the shoulder doesn't bunch up while paddling. Finally, I really like the punch through gaskets on the wrists and the elastic on the ankles. It makes the suit feel like it has tailored fit without any extra velcro cuffs flapping around. Oh...and it's DRY!
NRS Axiom Dry Suit Keeps You Warm & Dry
I don't usually write product reviews but the NRS Men's Axiom Dry Suit is a great product. I live in Southern Connecticut, and I bought the NRS Axiom Dry Suit to extend my sailing season on a small sailing kayak. Ordinarily, sailing in Connecticut is limited to mid-June thru mid-Sept. My goal was to extend my sailing season from April 15 to Oct. 15, and after trying the suit in the 41-degree waters of Long Island Sound on March 26, I am happy to say this suit should do the job. I did not swim in it but waded into the water at the launching ramp, to launch my boat. Inside, I wore a base layer of merino wool only (no mid-layer) and wool socks with neoprene booties. My feet stayed warm and dry. Not a drop of water leaked into the suit and I was cozy but not overheated. Air temp was 58 degrees and I did not need anything more. All dry suits are a bit tricky to put on but this suit was not too difficult for me to get into (I tried others that were too tight). I am a 67-year old male, 5'6" tall, weight 157 lbs and the medium sized suit fits me perfectly. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase and am looking forward to 6 months of sailing time in L.I. Sound this year.
Love the GoreTex material
I’m loving the GoreTex material. It’s been super dry and seems to be holding up to the beating I put it through.
yikes! that’s tight!
Have to piggy back on the other review about the neck gasket. I never got to try out the suit on the water because the neck gasket was so tight it’s anxiety producing. I am returning the XXL sized up (6’2” 200lbs) and the fit was good with maybe a little room. That gasket though.
Great except the Neoprene Neck Cuff
Breathes well with a slight breeze present. Down wind paddling can get a bit sweaty. I stretched and ultimately had to trim the latex neck gasket a small amount and it fits fine. The neoprene cuff that goes over and protects the neck gasket is way too tight for its purpose. Can get uncomfortable.
