long term use Foam is now Flat

I've been using the Foamy wide for about 8 months. At first it was very comfortable. As some had said it is difficult to roll back up but if you put your knee on it and roll it down to your shin you can get it tighter than factory with little effort. My main concern now is that the foam has lost its "plushness" after many uses. I can now bottom out the foam and feel whatever is under me. It now has no support and I wake up with a sore back every time. It has lost so much of its firmness that I can roll it up pretty easy. This is extremely disappointing from an expensive piece of foam. Even more disappointing is I tried contacting HEST and they haven't gotten back to me. Unfortunately for me I bought this directly from HEST before REI started selling this product. It would have made for a much easier return. I am writing this review here because I am a long time REI member and wanted too share my experience with this product

SO worth it!

This is the best camping pad I have ever used. Our campsite was pretty rocky and I slept like a baby. My buddy had an air mattress and ended up on the ground after the first night. Warm, comfortable and instant setup. Bonus: It doesn't make any noise as you shift your body while sleeping. Highly Recommended!

Most important piece of camping gear I own!

I use the Foamy for all my car camping adventures and swear it is more comfortable than my bed at home! I recently brought it on a fishing trip, where we stayed at my friend's cabin with limited beds. I set it up on the carpet and slept super comfortably all weekend. My pup loves it just as much as I do, may have to get him a dog bed!

Good for camping or for RV mattress.

I'm 70 and do a lot of trail hiking, but no backpacking. All of my camping is at drive up campsites. Until recently, all my sleeping arrangements have been 3 inch foam mattress in tents set up on cots, or on mattresses on the ground inside tents. I have been building a "home built" camper, mounted on my pickup truck which will be my new primary sleep site when camping. Since this sleep surface will be a piece of plywood, rather than a cot, I started to look for a good mattress for hard surface. I considered a traditional home mattress, but could not fine one under 8 inches thick. I settled on this mattress which is about 3 and 1/2 inches. So far, this is almost as comfortable as my home mattress at my house.

So Easy...So Comfy!

So easy to use! Just unclip, watch it unroll and puff up(2 seconds) and enjoy a great nights sleep. I'm never going back to an inflatable mattress:)

Super comfortable, tricky to roll back up

Really comfortable and truly a "splurge" item, but also a huge pain to roll up. So this really is a luxury buy. Upon rolling it out for the first time, you can see how foamy it really is. And it's comfortable. Not the lightest, but still decently light. I'm 5'10, 170lbs, I probably "bottomed out" sleeping on my side, but it wasn't noticeable at all. So this thing is definitely a comfortable night's rest. But it's also a huge pain to roll up. You really have to compress it down with your knees and even then, it's tough. I thought others were exaggerating - they're not. But it's the price you pay for the foamy goodness. Just keep that in mind.

Almost as comfortable as at home!

This thing is insanely comfortable! We've used it twice now and look forward to lots of car camping with it in the future. We used it for tent camping and car camping--it fits perfectly in the back of my VW Tiguan with the seat down. The only negatives are 1) the price point and 2) it is very bulky. It takes up half of my roof box. I debated over getting this version or the one w/ the attached air mattress, and am very happy with this one. I don't see how it could get any more comfortable?! Would definitely recommend.

Nice & Comfy

One of the best I have ever used. Really glad I got the wide. Its a car camp pad all the way and I think I would roll off the standard pad just trying to reposition during the night. Its pretty comfy, but not all the way their, sleeping on the ground I will put a big thermarest or other pad, to give the true bed like feeling. They offer a version of this pad with an air mattress built in, I think it would be nice to have and be able to use them separate, so I don't mind putting this on some other pad, even an old style evasote would be just right. They are quite pricey, but I am not regretting the purchase. Highly recommended for climbers with over 40 years of experience, Lol!

Go to truck bed mattress

Picked up this camping mattresses for my quick trailhead sleep set-up. For my weekend hikes, I use this mattress for a fast camp set up when showing up late to the trailhead and need a quick sleep before starting early in the morning. Great night sleep since it's foam and not air. Highly recommend.

Awesome job site trailer bunk mattress

I purchased this product from REI in store. I have an enclosed trailer I use for construction and built it up with shelving and a bunk area all out of plywood, some of my jobs are far away and the idea was to crash on the job off and on. Since the bunk surface is plywood I chose this mattress…..it did not disappoint. Excellent product and no tossing and turning, slept soundly through the night and woke up this morning rested and ready to grind. Well worth the hefty price tag.

I Love This!

I can't stress enough how much I love this sleeping pad. I've never been a fan of the blow-ups and everything else just seems too thin to be truly comfortable, but this sleeping pad is perfect. It's easy to pack away and easy to set up (literally just rolls out). I wish REI sold the sheets for this in store but you can order a fitted sheet from their website to help with keeping it clean & cozy. I recommend this sleeping pad to all of my friends and it also fits in the back of my car very well for car camping (2020 4runner with all seats down).
