Sizing Notes

Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements. Some women's pants are available in petite and tall sizes. Typically petite sizes fit women 4'11" to 5'3". Regular sizes fit women 5'4" to 5'8". Tall sizes fit women 5'9" to 5'11".

PETITE: Generally, as compared to regular sizes, petite sizes are 2.5 inches shorter in inseam, 1 inch shorter in body length, 1.25 inches shorter in sleeve length and ¾ inch shorter in total rise.

TALL: tall sizes are 3 inches longer in inseam, 2 inches longer in body length, 2.5 inches longer in sleeve length and 1.25 inches longer in total rise.

Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.

Inseam is measured to the floor.

Great, but why are they more expensive than mens?

I love these shorts they are really light weight and dry after a sweaty long run. They don't ride up and protect my inner thighs from chaffing. My only disappointment is these exact shorts in the men's colors are cheaper than the women's. I would purchase the men's version in the future.

These were recommended by an instagram long-distance running with similar building to me. 2 min in to my run and I’m already yanking them out of my crotch. I’m 5’5 156 lbs. I will forever be searching for running shorts that don’t ride up that aren’t bike shorts. I’m a size 10 jeans.

Almost perfect but undersized liners

I really wanted to love these shorts: the waistband is smooth and not too tight, nice and soft material that will hopefully prevent chafing, perfect pocket positioning, but the liners are not acceptable! Apparently I missed previous reviewers’ warning and the liners were TIGHT. So I compared them to previous year’s model and other brands (all the same sizes). Sure enough, they’re 1-3 inches shorter versus last year’ REI model (taupe liner, orange shorts), Under Armor (grey liner, green shorts), and Nike (blue liner, blue shorts). REI, please do market research and product testing, or don’t mess with things that worked.

Great lightweight shorts, would recommend!

These running shorts are lightweight and comfortable. These are great for hiking or just wearing around. I noticed that other reviewers didn't like the liners but they felt fine to me. Everything fit comfortably. I wear size 8/10 and got the medium. Fits true to size. I don't really need that back pocket but it may be a good place to stash a key or something. I like the moss green color too!

My new favorite running shorts! There is also a s

I love the shorts! I really appreciate the longer inseam and it doesn’t bunch up when I’m running. Lightweight and comfortable. No chafing. There is a small zipper pocket on the back, not big enough for a phone, but the right size for gels or other nutrition. There is also a small key pocket in the front. I will be purchasing these in every color!

Too light weight and the coral color shows sweat

I have a previous version of this pants and loves it. I wanted to add one more pair and purchased the amaranth coral color. I was a bit disappointed at this new version. The fabric is now extra thin and may be a bit see through and likely less durable. I tested if this shows sweat by putting clean water. The coral color shorts showed sweat though it was not as noticeable than REI Active Pursuit mandarine color shorts. I still think it would be embarassing for me.The fit was smaller than the previous model (though REI apparel runs small so it was more normal XS fit). Overall, I consider this version a downgrade from the previous model so I returned it.

314 miles and no REGRETS!

OK...I could not wait to review. I wore the purple ones during the Last Annual Vol State Race Across Tennessee...314 miles. I brought a pair of Zoot tri shorts as well, but not once did I wear those during running, just sleeping. The downside of the Swiftland was that as I sweated it was not visually appealing, but I did not care. These shorts wicked sweat, dried quickly, did not chafe, and were just so incredibly comfortable! I recovered in the 3 inch, and had not regrets there either. I am 5'6 and 142 lbs, athletic thighs. I cannot recommend these shorts enough! I ran some and I definitely walked alot. I did lube up but still these shorts performed splendidly!

So breathable and comfy!

I was unsure at first since these shorts are that style with the underwear piece on the inside (I've never been sure what that's about). You can't even tell it's there! These are some of the comfiest shorts I've worn. I love using them at the gym since they don't get sweaty and they don't expose any unwanted areas when I use equipment that requires me to put my legs apart or upwards. They're plenty stretchy and breathable, and work well for hiking too! I can wear them a few times without having to wash them too. They don't have any side pockets, but I like how they have that small zipper back pocket that fits a chapstick or two. I would definitely get another pair, and I am so picky about shorts and rarely find some that I love. I'm curvy/athletic body with a big butt (5'4 137 lbs) and got a medium that fit perfectly.

No thx

I really wanted to like the shorts, their pattern is really cute and they were really stretchy! However, on the zipper for the back pocket, they used a metal zipper with a really sharp edge, and it scratches me every time I pull my pants up! Also, the seam on the inner thigh is too thick and doesn’t really lay flat = chafing

Not as expected, and not great for running

These shorts are really soft and I wanted to love them for running, however they ride up in the thigh/crotch really bad. I bought them after they were recommended for not riding up, but sadly they still ride up unless I pull them way far down on my torso, to the point that they feel like low rider jeans. These are not meant for runners with short torsos, long legs, or thick thighs, which is what I have. My thighs were rubbing after 1 minute into my run. I give them 2 stars due to the soft, breathable material, but there’s no way I can run in them. They are very expensive for shorts I will end up having to use for walking.

These Shorts Can Handle Thicc Thighs

These are the only shorts I’ve been able to run in that don’t get majorly gobbled by my thighs. One leg does roll slightly, but with the shorts being the same color on the inside, it’s not obvious. They are comfortable, airy, and tough! I recently fell on trail, and the way I slid on gravel, I was sure these would be shredded. Not even a single snag! I loved them before, but now I’m buying up the clearance colors! I also thought the pockets were fine. I fit my iPhone in the zip pockets and the two waist pockets are plenty, plus there’s a small key pocket in the front. I was able to carry everything I needed. Highly recommend!
