[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My new Osprey pack will allow me to continue hiking comfortably and to reach those destinations I have not yet seen. The photos I've submitted reveal why I enjoy the outdoors.
I got this to replace a talon 22 just because I was tired of the color and I love it! (Got the purple one) I normally have to buy men’s packs because I have a long torso but the large was just right! I love the 3 separate zippered pockets and the stretchy stuff pocket. The hip belt is great and better than most smaller daypacks. My iPhone 13 fits in the left one perfectly even in the case! It has more than enough room for day hikes for my rain jack and puffy jacket, seat pad, snacks etc and it is very comfortable. I don’t use a water bladder, I prefer bottles and the side pockets are deep enough and secure tightly. I am very happy with this pack!
I got this pack to do a R2R2R of the Grand Canyon. It was the perfect size for the 2 day hike. My favorite feature was how it compressed down after the first day's worth of food was gone, which made it comfortable and not swing around with the excess room. The variety of different pockets made it really simple to compartmentalize the different things I packed, so I was able to find everything when I needed to without digging to the bottom of my pack or pulling everything out. My primary complaint is that the hip belt pockets weren't big enough to comfortably fit my cell phone, and the pockets were set far enough back that it was an inconvenient reach to pull snacks out of them. Not a deal breaker, but worth mentioning for folks who like having easy access. I ended up purchasing the Osprey Hydraulics Sternum Strap and Tube Magnet Kit to go with my hydration system as there isn't a great option for clipping the hose otherwise, but I did like that the bladder rested in an entirely separate pouch so that there was that extra bit of protection between the things inside the pack and the water bladder. I ended up drenching myself multiple times during the hike because of the heat, and despite getting fairly wet, all of my things inside the pack remained dry. Overall way more comfortable than any pack has a right to be over 44 miles!
I replaced my old OG osprey daylite pack with this one and it's superior than the updated daylite plus pack IMO. More volume and a much more comfortable pack. I use mine everyday when I bike to work and holds everything I need while staying close and not flipping around. The side water bottle pockets are ample big to hold a 1L Hydroflask or 1L Nalgine bottle. I like the hip belt as it is a nice touch for a smaller day pack. Some people don't like the non zipped pocket but I quite like it as it makes a quick access pocket for things like chapstick, or lighter, or snacks or trash. As a day hikes pack it is superb with the comfort and all the pockets function exceptionally. I dig the quick access external front pocket and holds the trekking poles really well
Upgraded from the Osprey Hikelite 26L . I normally only do day hikes, often times in finicky elements. I was excited about the external water reservoir, a feature not on my old bag. The bag is very comfortable and can hold quite a bit, however I was quickly let down when I realized it did not come with a rain cover & storage pocket for the cover. My biggest complaint is that the trekking pole loops on the bottom are very small compared to the Hikelite 26L & do not hold my poles very well. If I have the protective tips on my poles, the poles do not fit through the loop at all. Overall, the bag is alright, but there is room for improvement.
This is by far my favorite day pack I have ever used. I’ve done day hikes up to 16 miles long with this bag and I have absolutely no complaints. The pack is super lightweight and durable. I use the water compartment for my Osprey hydration reservoir and it works perfectly. I can also fit an extra layer, lunch box, snacks, extra water and my hammock/straps with plenty of room to spare. Some people like super rigid and structured packs so if you prefer that type of design then this probably isn’t for you. Me personally, I love that it’s more flexible, makes for easier and quicker movement on the trail. Definitely recommend!
I have a long torso and require a men’s size pack typically. I was really excited to find one in a woman’s size AND in my favorite color. Functionally it’s great. Fits my gear for a day hike, comfortable to wear. The trekking pole attachment is fine but could be better, not enough of an annoyance to take off stars though. I just take off the tips, put the pole through, and reattach the tip. On a day hike it’s no big deal, but on a longer trip this would be a deal breaker. Easy to get to outside pocket for my rain jacket, a key clip is a necessity, and I love being able to easily get to my hydration bladder. Hip belt pockets fit some snacks on one size and chapstick on the other. Overall, a great impulse purchase.
The only reason why this pack didn't get 5 stars is because it doesn't include a rain cover like the Osprey Hikelite 26 Pack. I needed a bit more capacity and liked the hip built better than the Hikelite (which my wife bought.) Just returned from hiking a leg of the Camino Del Norte trail in Spain. The pack was the pefect size for day hikes. It has two external water bottle holders that are easy to access and the multiple compartments made it easy to organize gear without overloading. We had two days of consistent rain on the trail and I'm glad that I ordered the rain cover through another vendor: Hi-Vis Raincover Small, since REI doesn't carry this mode. Without it, my gear would have been soaked. The fabric is water resistant but only to a point.
I impulse-bought this bag because I liked the color, and ended up loving it and will use it as my go-to day pack. It’s the perfect size, the multiple compartments keep everything nice and organized, and the combo of open stretch and zippered hip pocket is awesome - I struggle sometimes with the zipper so the stretch one is good for things I’m frequently pulling out! I wanted to respond to the review about it not working for hiking poles - flip them around! I put mine in handle-down and it works just fine, and no worries about the tip poking through the mesh! I subtracted a star for not having a good spot to externally store a rain cover. Good for other purposes too… I travel for work and it works just fine for carrying my laptop and other airplane carry-on necessities!
I absolutely love this pack! I was looking for something lightweight that I could use on all day hikes that put pockets in the right places, had a place for my bladder, all the usual stuff. This pack knocks it out of the park! So well designed, it's got 2 easy-access pockets on the belt for your phone, lip balm, etc. an open compartment on the back to shove discarded layers, nice back venting, comfortable straps, straps for your poles, big and little pockets AND it comes in great colors.
