tent for the money and I can’t really ask for it to perform any better than it diWe recently took a backcountry trip into the Adirondacks to do some fly fishing. We took the Tungsten over the Northface VE25 due to weight considerations (20+ miles of hiking). However, we got caught in bad weather and ended up having to wait out a day long storm in the tent. We sat out 21 hours inside the tent with driving rain, 40-50mph gusts, and temperatures as low as 26°F. The tent held up extremely well given the fact it’s not designed to be used in mountainous weather conditions. Not a single drop of water came through the fly, the floor stayed dry (without the ground tarp may I add) and I never once believed that poles were being flexed beyond their capabilities. Another great design was that the small footprint allowed us to set up in a small campsite that anything larger would not fit. I will say that the rain fly could be a little longer. While we didn’t deal with any splashback, some of our gear did get a little moist. However, this could be due to tensioning out the fly slightly too far to give ourselves more room. I will also add that condensation inside was moderate, however, due to the double wall design it wasn’t an issue for us. Another thing to be aware of, and this is true for all tents, is that the guy lines will need to be tensioned periodically as the tent loosens up as it gets wet. I only had to do this once and it held up just fine. Overall, an excellent tent.

I got this tent for myself and my two (55 lbs) dogs. Sizing works well for us, I prefer to keep my gear in the tent instead of the vestibule, so it does feel a little tight sometimes. I wish there were more gear pockets inside for easy access to sunglasses, kindles, etc. There are two small pockets - one on each side of the tent - and a small mesh ont he ceiling for a headlamp.
It is very light for backpacking, and packs up well in the included sack. Very easy to put up as well. I can put it up by myself no problem in about 5 minutes or less. I would not recommend trying to put it up in the rain. I have done this and ended up with a lot of water in the tent due to the mesh and detachable rainfly. The stakes that come with the tent are a joke, they bend really easily.
I have been in this tent in a few downpours now. The tent bottom is great, no moisture gets through. The inside of the rainfly however seems to really collect condensation. Since the main tent is mostly mesh, it can get really wet inside.
Also, because the tent is mostly mesh, it does not hold body heat well. I have had many spring/fall camping trips that were uncomfortable because of the chill at night.
Would not recommend for really chilly/wet/rainy climates.

Same Solid Marmot Better Colors

I've owned Marmot tents since I was a kid. They've always been solid. Durable, easy to set up and easy to move around inside. They USED to also be done in really great colors deep purples with yellow and red trim. Then things got a little boring. I was psyched to see they have their color game back on. I use the two-person with my dog (she's 85 lbs) and there's plenty of space. Best part is the way the doors are made. The zippers don't snag and pull on the fabric so you can easily open and close with one hand—not something I've experienced on cheaper tents I've used.

As with any tent the best time to learn how to set it up is at home. My first time setting this up at the campsite was very quick. Especially compared to my last tent which was much better for car camping and really needed two people to set it up without swearing. It rained when I was on my second trip. Not a drop came inside. The ventilation was wonderful. There are lots of pockets on the inside to store your phone and headlamp when you're ready for bed. The other big win for this tent is the color coated poles and clips. Makes it very easy to figure out what goes where. The only knock against the tent is I wish there was a small bit of material between the rainfly and the entry so I could place a backpack there out of the rain and the bottom wouldn't get dirty.

I have been using a Marmot Tungsten forever and I love it. When I saw that they updated it, I figured I would give the new version a try. I love the new colors and all the new bells and whistles they put in this thing. The storage pockets are great, it has this great reflector pocket for your headlamp and it actually comes with a foot print, so I am saving like $50 bucks out the door. I was in it during a rainy night and it kept me dry without much condensation which is another plus. If you are looking for a tent that is a great deal and will last the test of time you cant go wrong with the Tungsten.

Took the tent camping this weekend, I decided to purchase this as my first tent. I am 5'1 and so is my friend. The tent was so easy to step up, took us less than 10 minutes. We both fit comfortably and slept great. I love that the tent brings its own footprint, we were able to sleep without the rain cover and fell asleep looking at the stars. I would not take this tent backpacking though, it is a bit heavy for my pack, but other than that it is definitely worth it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I REALLY wanted to love this tent! However, I was not too impressed with the quality. The rain fly seams were not flush with the tent poles. We tried using the guy lines to pull out the wrinkles but it still bunched up in certain areas... I could tell this would be a problem in wet weather. Also, you have to awkwardly crawl under the rain fly to attach to the tent poles. Overall disappointed

I really didn't want to buy a tent from some big conglomerate, but I've used these before, and like your good ole' Chevy, there's nothing inherently wrong with this tent. Pros: - Decent fabrics. I can attest this is totally waterproof. Ripstop fly. All with decent hydraulic head ratings. - Sets up fast. I'm not a fan of "spreader poles" but everything is cut well, and the fit to poles is tight, no sagging; it's just made well. - Can be set up in the rain: Set as minimalist, footprint + poles + fly. Install tent "body" working under the fly. Inside of tent stays totally dry even in pouring rain. I've done this. - It's been updated: 4 guy anchor points, up from 2. Higher "knee-wall" for privacy but helps with blowing sand and dust. - Nicely color-coded. - Inner tabs for clothes line. (Not every tent has this). Cons: - Nothing really except instructions don't tell you about the fly to spreader pole connection nor about how to set up in the rain (above). Comments: - Sales people won't tell you this, but this tent will last just as long as your $500 super fancy thingy. A tent is just poles and fabric - like a rain jacket but with poles. Don't think of a tent as a "house." In 5, 10, 15 years the seam tape is going to delaminate, or U/V will kill it just like the $500 ones. No warranty is going to cover any of that. Then, chuck it, buy a new one. Just my two-cents on that.

I purchased this tent in 01/2023, after poles in my 12+ year old Kelty-Gunnison failed for good – and after buying and immediately returning the Nemo-Aurora-2p (3-star review) and the REI-Half Dome SL2+ (2-star review). The imperfections of this tent are not significant. This tent is made in China; I’d like it better if the good ol’ USA had its hand in too. The Tungsten tent-package may be of average or above-average weight when compared to other 2p tents. Unless you are hiking the AT – this is of little concern. The tent comes with 6 stakes and 4 guy lines. You may need more. Some campers will want more pockets or hangers on the interior. I read a few reviews with concerns about condensation/wetness in heavy rain. Someone said the stakes bent too easily. These worries seem par-for-the-course during backpacking. Whereas the (above-mentioned) REI & Nemo tents are middling & below average - the Marmot/Tungsten 2p is outstanding. It sets up easily. Marmot does some cool things here in matching both pole and fabric colors which results in a bit less fumbling about while pitching. The tent comes with a footprint. The floor of the Tungsten is water-proof. The fabric stitching (including on the rain-cover) is excellent, leading me to believe the tent is long lasting. There are two doors and two vestibules. The area/size of the interior is as good as any other 2pm. Unlike many other tents, the area of the rain-fly covering each tip of brow/ridge pole is reinforced with both fabric and stitching. Right out-of-the-bag, the excellent design and material-quality of this tent is apparent. The other 4 & 5 star reviews sum up this tent nicely. You will not be disappointed in the Tungsten. Compared to other 2p tents and coming-in at under $300 (note: both 2p tents mentioned above cost b/n $40-$80 more), there is nothing to complain about for a tent at this price point. Marmot hit this one out of the park.

I bought this tent for my outdoor ed job and I gotta say that I really don't love this tent and I wish that I did. First off, instead of having 2 long poles that are separate and cross loosely to form the peak of the tent, they are connected by a swivel thing that you hook the tent's top clip to. It is very awkward and not a smooth process to set up the tent because while you are trying to attach one pole to the corner the other 3 ends of the pole(s) are flailing about and swinging through the air smacking into trees. I also don't love that I have to use all my upper body strength to jam the smaller pole (that lays across the top of the tent) into the rain fly pole slots. The only reflective strips are located on the flaps that hold the guy lines, so when you are trying to find your tent at night after dinner or setting up other kids' tents like me, you can't find your tent as easily. With that being said the inside of the tent is quite spacious for me and my gear, plus both the vestibules do provide room for backpacks and boots and won't get them wet. The fly comes down far enough to cover the tent body. And in the event that your fly, body, and ground tarp get wet, they do dry quickly even if you can only get barely an hour of direct sun! I also like that the tent material and color do not give all other campers nearby a show of what all you are doing inside your tent when you have a light on inside and it is dark outside. I am 6ft and sleep comfortably and my extra long sleeping quilt doesn't normally touch the foot or head of the tent body (unless there's uneven ground and I slide around in my sleep).

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This tent is fantastic for a to the point 2 person tent. I bought this tent after camping a handful of times with my friend who has an older model and was impressed by the ease of use/setup and packaging. One star was taken away for the choice of parts coloring, two pole ends and tent rivet tabs are dark blue while the rest are yellow. This is like having socks that have left/right printed on them, it's unnecessary and makes it look goofy if you mix it up. It would have been more favorable to make all tent pole ends the consistent yellow to make it easier to setup at night and reduce the chance of poking your friends eye out.
