Smaller diameter cap! Does not work w/ MSR filter!
Kilt (quoted below) is absolutely right. It won't mate w/ my MSR water filter. I'll give it two stars b/c, though not what I wanted, it might be a good size for my 4-yr-old grandson "Says it is "wide mouth" but new buyers beware that it is actually a smaller diameter cap than the "standard" wide-mouth 32oz Nalgene. This is more of a medium-mouth bottle. I was hoping the caps would be the same, but no bueno. So it won't mate with my MSR Miniworks water filter."
Don't forget about Nalgene!
Perhaps you've been following the water bottle movement toward vacuum insulated stainless steel for many years, and you have walked past the shelf of Nalgenes like so many useless relics of the forgotten past. But now here you are, in a time when it's OK to wear a fanny pack again, and your metal insulated bottle is too heavy and too large to fit where you'd like to fit it. This is where the 16oz Nalgene shines. It's light. It's maybe half the size of an insulated bottle carrying the same amount of water. It will never break or leak. It's inexpensive. Just get one. You'll find that you don't need insulation as much as you think you do, and you'll be happy to stash this tiny bottle in pouches and bags where larger bottles cannot go.
Fits my car's cupholders
On the one hand, I have to give this bottle a good score because it holds water. Does its job, no problems. But its worth mentioning that, unlike the bigger 32 oz version, this bottle fits into the cupholders of most cars. You might be able to carry more water in the bigger version, but not having the bottle fly out of the center console when you're making a turn is a huge plus.
For backpacking snacks
Bought this after seeing Miranda in the Wild use it to store nuts for a hike. It really is a great way to put loose hiking snacks since it's a non-throw-away and very easy to use.
Great small size
Got this specifically to fit in the front shoulder strap pocket of my Shimoda Explore v2 backpack. Fits perfectly and is small enough not to cause discomfort. Now, when hiking, it's much more convenient to slip this bottle out for a quick sip or two without having to stop, take my pack off, and grab my larger water bottle from the side pockets.
Great for when you don't want to carry your 32oz
I purchased this on a whim when the lid to my 32oz nalgene melted in the dishwasher. I purchased a new lid for my 32oz and bought this. There have been so many times I didn't want to lug my 32oz around (running errands, going for a quick hike). This 16oz is perfect if you're not going to be away from a water source for too long. I highly recommend!
Perfect little bottle
Perfect for when you need to have a smaller, lighter bottle to fit in a carry bag, or even a good size purse. I also purchased as a gift for someone wanting a small bottle for their gym bag. I’ve never had it leak. And I like there are different designs.
A solid little water bottle
This Nalgene water bottle has markings up the side that go up to 14 oz, but you should know that it is marked on the base as being able to hold 16 oz (500ml). There is enough room for the last 2 oz of water just above the 14 oz mark. I wasn't able to find an Easy Sipper insert of the correct size to go in the top to help prevent water from splashing. The opening is smaller, which should help prevent too much splashing, but I'd like to see the Easy Sipper made to fit in this bottle size as well. The side edges of the cap's attachment leash thing are a bit sharp, so you might have to wrap something around it to keep from digging into your fingers if you carry it there a lot. Luckily the small size makes it lightweight enough to not be a major issue. This bottle fits nicely inside a standard Fjallraven Kanken's side pocket as long as your bag isn't overstuffed. The lid and loop peek over the pocket's top edge when it's stored.
By far my favorite water bottle
I’ve owned all different water bottles over the years, but this one takes the cake. The small size makes it easy to tuck into any purse or backpack. The lightweight plastic quickly beat onto my heavier metal water bottles; this weighs nothing when it’s empty. The 16 oz size (and measurements on the side!) make it fantastic for mixing in supplements. This comes everywhere with me. Highly recommend!
Perfect size
I’ve used Nalgene products for what feels like forever! In both hiking and scientific field work, they always last even the toughest of jobs. I’m usually replenishing Nalgenes whenever mine have either broken due to severe use, I lose them in the field, or they are repurposed as plant propagation bottles! I’ve never purchased a small size like this, and did so after one of my Botanist colleagues found it worked perfectly when working in small spaces. Another great addition to the Nalgene collection!
