Best water belt I have seen to date
I used to use Nathan belts, but I found that they chafed. A few years ago, I switched to Amphipod and was quite happy with their product. But the last iteration bounced while running and came loose. It was awful. After a few weeks I gave up and decided to try the Ultimate Direction belt since it had received a very good review elsewhere. Great choice! It does not bounce. It holds quite a bit. It is by far the easiest belt to adjust I have ever seen. Unlike others I have not had any problem getting water bottles in or out of the pockets. I have no complaints.
Possibly Defective? Just OK Otherwise
Really disappointed with the quality - one of the bottle holder’s adjusting pieces snapped after only a week of use so unfortunately I’ll be returning. Had that not happened, I think I’d still rate the pack a 3 at best - moves a lot/requires a lot of adjustment while running and bottles don’t feel very secure, especially as they start to empty.
challenging bottle entry/exit.
The good: comfortable; no bounce; adequate water and gear capacity; very lightweight; non-slip closure. The bad: the worst ease-of-access and re-entry of water bottles into the bottle sleeves I've ever experienced. The bottle sleeves do not have a stay-open frame, and trying to shove a half-empty flimsy bottle into a soft, stretchy bottle sleeve is challenging when fatigued. Maybe there's a special technique that escapes me, but I prefer a belt where, with one hand, I can quickly and easily return a bottle to it's sleeve. Also worth noting that the water bottle sleeves are not insulated. I don't like offering harsh criticism of a product, and really like my Ultimate hydration pack and my old Ultimate hydration belt that takes standard bottles, is insulated, and has stay open sleeves, despite the fact that, after many years, I've had to re-sew it and the zipper is broken. Unfortunately Ultimate doesn't make water belts like that any more.
Must upgrade the belt a bit
Great for average skinny people because of how the belt was made, I should read the ratings before I buy it. It just won’t work on me because I’m kind of a big guy I’m 6’0 200 lb guy and the Velcro belt don’t work, i need a better heavy duty belt.
Great idea, for execution on the belt
Everything is great,EXCEPT the loop and velcro belt. The belt is horrible, I had to customize it by cutting the belt off and sewing a click belt from my old Nathan on it. Luckily I have an old sewing machine .
Much smaller than i thought it would be
I don't know how they'er measuring to say that this hydration belt holds 2.9 L of gear. I can barely get my phone, wallet, and a set of keys into the gear pouch. I was looking for a hydration belt that would hold all my daily essentials as I run home from work, but this isn't it. I have an old Nathan hydration belt (similar to the insulated Peak but an older model) that was much cheaper and actually holds more gear.
Small mid pocket.
I like this pack but only if I don't need to carry much. The pocket is very small--hence, the reason for only 2 stars. For most of my hikes it's way too small to use.
