Good cooler, bad zipper
Bought this cooler for use as a lunch pail, and it's excellent at keeping food and drinks cold for 12-14 hour shifts. However, the zipper pulls keeps popping off, and are difficult to get back on the zips. The pulls suck and sooner or later will go missing, rendering this otherwise great little cooler useless.
perfect for a 6 pack or breast milk ;)
I used this cooler everyday day for two years to keep a different kind of precious beverage cold: pumped breast milk. There is room to put in a little wall of ice packs all around the milk; since there wasn’t a fridge at my work this was a godsend. Now it’s perfect for a day at the beach or its original purpose, a six pack of beer. The outside pocket is great for cutlery and napkins.
Good for lunch box and small items
Not as spacious as I expected. The zipper is extremely hard to close. Seems to keep things cool enough. I use it for a short walk to our community pool.
Is a cooler soft-sided if it has a hard frame?
I don't know what REI means by soft-sided cooler, but to me this means the cooler is collapsible. Apparently to REI it means that plus it means a hard-framed (non-collapsible) cooler that is is covered in "soft fabric." I had to return this because I need a collapsible cooler, which REI does sell and lumps in with this one. I would recommend REI create 3 categories - collapsible / hard-framed but soft fabric / hard-framed.

Great for Golf!
Purchased this for use in a golf cart to keep water and snacks cold throughout a round. Fits perfectly in the golf cart basket! 2 cold packs kept already cold items perfectly chilled Theo your the round. Would Definitely purchase again.
Mountainsmith cooler
Nice cooler, zipper a bit hard to unzip but silicone lubricant helps out some. Darker color would of been preferred to keep clean longer. Overall very roomy and it does keep everything cold for about 2 days with ice packs.

This bag is perfect for a few things and 6 pk of whatever. I Love it to even put food in for a party or a day hike.
