Used with an iPhone 13 Pro
Make sure you zip the pouch closed all the way. I made the mistake of not double checking the zipper to make sure it was closed all the way. When it’s closed all the way, no water got in. I have an iPhone 13 Pro. It fits pretty loose. When you want to take pictures, it can be hard to press the buttons.
Great pics & videos snorkeling in Bora Bora.
This worked fantastic for snorkeling in Bora Bora. See some sample pics I took with it (iPhone). Underwater videos came out great also. On my previous vacation I bought a cheap less-than-ten-dollar phone pouch. That one took poor distorted pictures because the plastic was softer than the stiff plastic of this one, so it wouldn't be completely flat against the camera lens. To get the best pics, when putting my phone in, I'd take off it's regular case, and press out as much air as I could when zipping so that the plastic was flat against the lens. The upgrade price vs a cheaper pouch is well worth it to actually have good pics. NOTE from other reviews. One side of the pouch has opaque plastic on about one-third - you put the phone in downwards, with the camera pointing out the clear part of that side. This way the camera is unobstructed, and the touchscreen side is fully clear and usable. PROS: 1) My pics and videos came out way better then I expected. See samples. Sharp, bright, and no hint of the plastic overlaying the lens. 2) Stiff clear plastic doesn't distort the images. 3) Stayed waterproof snorkeling for 30-60 minutes at a time. 4) Having the underwater pics from this trip to share was so worth the price. 5) Videos came out very good too. Cons: 1) Yes, the zipper needs effort to open! The salesperson in the store gave me heads up when I was looking at it. But it stayed waterproof. And be sure it's closed all the way. 2) The touchscreen (iPhone) works OUT OF WATER, but not IN WATER. So for snorkeling, you have to lift it out of the water to tap & turn the camera on, then underwater use the side volume button to take pics. You have to fold the edge over a little to press the side button. But once the camera is "on" you can swim for awhile taking many pics before having to take it back out to use the touchscreen again.
Unbelievable!!! 34 days underwater!!
I could not be more excited, stunned and grateful that my phone was both found and then returned to me after lying at the bottom of the ocean, an hour off Key West, underwater for more than a month!! AND IT WORKS SO I CAN ACCESS MY PHOTOS THAT WEREN'T BACKED UP!! HUGE SHOUT OUT to the company Nite Ize (carried locally at REI Co-op on the Carlisle Pike) for making this waterproof phone case. It was stated to be good for "30 minutes underwater at a depth of 3 feet." It stood the ultimate test for 34 days underwater at unknown depths in SALTWATER no less!!
Proved itself in Seward Alaska
While we felt confident using these on a kayaks on the Inside Passages of Alaska, it's true worth came in an amazing hike out of Seward Alaska where we found salmon swarming in a lake beginning to start heading up stream. On the water surface yo could see the salmon churning and our guide was wishing he had a way to capture it actually in the water. To the rescue came my Nite Ize pouch that was in my backpack! He put his phone in the porch, wrapped it around a long stick and lowered it into the water. We ended up with an amazing video underwater with not only the salmon, but many other fish swarming with no plastic obstruction visible. And...his phone was just fine.
Failed when it Counted
I had my brand new pixel 9 in here on a top down hike through the narrows in Zion. The phone fit fine. It was a bit difficult to use the touch screen through it, and the orientation of the clear pouch requires the phone to be upside down if you want to use rear facing cameras. Both would have been a pain, but acceptable if it protected my phone, alas, it did not. With 5 miles to go, and doing a gentle float through a deep section of the river, I pulled out the case to find two inches of water inside it. Luckily Google builds quality phones and it wasn't damaged. I will add that I lubricated the zipper prior to use as the directions stated.
Swimming, Camping, boating
Very nice design.. Material are made of good quality.. Feels comfortable wearing around the neck or on your belt.. Smaller phones “I phone 6” are easier to store with a phone case or a larger phone without a phone case.. Not one bit of moister made it inside.. Definitely going to use this for my kids phone at the lakes..
Not suitable for wet and dirty
I bought this to protect my phone while caving. It did protect my phone and kept it dry but the zipper is clearly designed for non-dirty environments. The sand and silt from the underground environment destroyed the zipper groove and it is permanently closed now, luckily without my phone inside. If your environment is different then you might enjoy more longevity out of this product.
Great Case, Make sure to close all the way!
great phone sleeve for water activities. I bought this after reading other revies for a Hawaii trip. I needed something to protect my phone for kayaking and general around the water activities. It did great in those circumstances as long as I remembered to COMPLETLY close the zipper, for the 1 time I forgot some water made it in. as others stated, insert the phone in such a way that the camera is facing in, i was able to take pictures by a waterfall standing in little pond, also worked for taking pictures in a rainstorm.
Zipper pull very hard to move
I was unable to pull the zipper closed and seal the bag. I previously had used different closures, roll or snap close, on other dry bag/waterproof bags. This was my first time with this waterproof zipper-like closure. As I was pulling the zipper, I had to pull it so hard, it took all my strength to get it to move; I was sure I was going to tear it. It did include a little package of silicone lubricant or grease, but I could not tell if it always needed to be "oiled". Too much to mess with. I finally was able to move the zipper an inch, but, if it was this difficult and made me this nervous in my living room, I did not want to have to mess with it on the water. I returned this item.
Keeps the water out
This works pretty well at keeping the water out. It can be a bit tough to unzip, but some silicone grease helps with that.
