perfect for me

I went to REI Boston to look at a road bike, but one of the staff there (who I believe was one of the most knowledgeable bike sales staff in the world) changed my mind. He was absolutely right. Before the purchase, I was worried about riding it for my 7-mile commute with one significant hill and some other minor ones. But I have no problem and actually my commute time is shorter than what it used to be when I used my husband's Cannondale hybrid. When I am feeling too tired to ride at the end of the day or when it is rainy out, I fold the bike and hop on a train. I am really happy about this bike.

Good basic folding bike, not the best for travel

I bought this after seeing that it *could* be carried as checked luggage if it was partially disassembled. It can be broken down and packed in a suitcase, but reassembling it proved to be more difficult than I wanted when traveling. If you're looking for a bike to pack, a Brompton or a Tern BYB is probably a better fit. If you're looking for a general purpose folding bike to store indoors or fit in a car trunk, this bike will work well. I like the included cargo rack and bungee cord. The cord wraps around the rack and stays completely clear of the wheel.

Good ride - easy to fold/unfold

I wanted a bike that I could easily travel with or take on a small boat to bike at my destinations! I was worried I wouldn’t be able to fold/unfold easily but I had zero difficulties! Its a solid bike and offers a smooth ride! My only quip was that is comes with a very cheap “bike bell” that immediately broke when I first folded up the bike. REI did offer a replacement bell so I appreciated that! Overall Im happy with my purchase!

My forever bike

As sturdy and smooth as a regular bike, plus you can fold it. No need for an external car rack. Take it onto the subway. Counts as standard luggage on Amtrak. Low stepover means I expect to ride it well into my 70s. Though it says one size, it fits smaller people better: my kid can ride it at 4’6”, and I’m very comfortable at 5’5”, but I wouldn’t want to be much taller.

Fun on the fall

This is my first foldable bike. The bike is really beautiful. I took it for a ride, very smooth and responsive. With that said, it is still a little heavy to lift into my SUV, but I manage. Also there are ways to push it around when it’s folded (I found some you tube videos that were really helpful). Since the wheels are 20 inches it can get a little tricky when you are riding and get stuck on long cracks, it happened to me, I thought I was going to fall but I managed to get the wheel unstuck.

It's time to Tern and Bern! (Ok, I'm a dork)

I am delightfully suprised that this bike rides as smooth and comfortably as it does. Sturdy and responsive, this ride is almost more enjoyable than my full size fun bike :-). Thanks REI for assembling and equipping me with an amazing commuter!

Fits the bill

In general, the Tern suits my needs well; it appears to be well made, is comfortable and folds up easily. However, for $850 I expected metal fenders -- not plastic. Also, the bike appears to be missing a cap at the bottom of the seat post.

Great bike for riding and social distancing

I picked up the Tren folding bike two weeks ago. Fun to ride in the city of Atlanta GA. Easy to fold and put away. This bike picks up a lot of speed going down holds. 8 speeds help when riding up streets with an incline. Excellent bike for riding or walking trails.

Tern C8

Great travel bike and Tern provides terrific customer support. This bike folds easily and is very compact so you can throw 2 bikes in the back seat of a car and off you go. Pay close attention to the folding directions, we didn't and had an issue. This bike is a lot of fun and very well made for the price!
