My go-to-shoe when it comes to real trailrunning

The Norvan LD2 is my absolute favourite when it comes to shoes for trailrunning. It's light, extremely durable and comfortably cushioned to run longer distances on all kinds of terrain: road, gravel, rocks, gras, roots ... I pretty much wear this shoe all the time. The Vibram sole has an exceptional grip on wet rock and I even do light scrambling with it. I've run the shoe for distances ranging from 20k to 100k and recently finished the Transalpine Run, using two paris of Norvan LD2. It lasts for about 800k of running, which makes it extremely durable. The EVA mid-sole is super light and the cushioning is great. The only downside I can find is that it's quite wide for my feet (I've a very narrow foot), but when it comes to longer distances, this really pays of, as the feet always feel comfortable.

A confidence building shoe that is versitile and comfortable

I initially bought these shoes for doing day hikes and short trail runs but the more I wore these shoes the more confidence I got while doing extended hikes with some scrambling. As a result I decided to leave my hiking boots in the closet and take these shoes on a multi day backpacking trip to the Mount Assiniboine region. These shoes did not disappoint and I think they allowed me the confidence to extend hikes and reach heights that I may not have attempted before wearing my heavier hiking boots. They also helped with a roughly 30km final day hike carrying a 27lb pack. Overall, they are supportive and comfortable enough to get you through a long day of hiking and not have the traditional sore feet issues. For me, they initiated very few hotspots on my feet and to date I've had no blistering from wearing them on any hike or run. The grip is way better than I expected although in thicker mud I did find that mud can become stuck between lugs and traction is compromised but I can live with that. These shoes also have a wide enough toe box to support people with a wider feet. Highly recommend and I won't hesitate picking up another pair when these ones run their course.

Great Shoe, Short Life.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Excellent shoe, super comfy and well suited to both trail runs and casual summer walking. Not however long lasting. My first pair (pic attached) lasted around 500 miles and the soles are now pretty much gone altogether after 800 miles. I was expecting more for the cost - Arc'teryx for me has always been pay up front, enjoy for a long time. Durability here is not comparable with the market which is pretty disappointing given the price premium. That said, the comfort factor has won me over enough to (grudgingly) given them another try and so I've just purchased another pair. Hopefully they'll do better.

Design flaw compromises durability

These were purchased recently for every day use (walking the dog, running errands). On both shoes, the material over the forefoot has started to shred where the material flexes. I anticipate the purchasers using these for trail runs and more intense activities could see this occur even faster.

Great Quality as Expected

Waited until I had about 30 miles on these jewels before writing this review. Considering the brand and price point I was expecting high quality and performance. You'll get both with this shoe. Sturdy welds, stout materials, nice grip. I love the inner material, it feels similar to "pleather" vs cloth. I hope it holds up, I see no reason why it wouldn't. 2 downsides that aren't worth subtracting a star considering my use. 1) Fine sand seemed to creep in when I had these on the coast this past weekend. I don't live in a sandy environment and it wasn't a problem before or since but worth mentioning. 2) The yellow is a little brighter in person than online. I'm not even sure this is a negative but I have gotten more than a few "wow those are bright shoes" comments. Haha. I would certainly recommend these shoes.

Sea level to 14K feet.

When I got my hands on the Norvan Long Distance (LD)2 stoke was high. Then COVID hit and stoke was low. The urge to get on trial forced me to think outside the box to sustain running and biking shape during the COVID pandemic. Overtime as restrictions lifted and attempting to physically distant myself from other humans. I began to plot running/riding routes as remote as possible that provided max value. Without a break-in period the LD2 handled 20+ mile (or shorter) runs and 30 mile rides without any issues on variable terrain with mixed conditions. Seriously! Any trail condition (but ice) from sea level to 14K feet. Ok a bit about the shoes... Sole construction and make up appear to be a between high/low density foam providing support and responsive performance. The Vibram rubber offers confidant grip, flat 3.5mm lugs are not too aggressive allow for stable application and adaptability. Also, workout well with flat bike peddles whenever a casual ride or out on a run/ride combo. Synthetic upper construction dries out fast, quite durable that’s reinforced in high abuse areas with padding in the heel and integrated tongue. Toe box is quite roomie providing sufficient protection keeping my toes nice and happy. For the amount of use and abuse I've put these shoes through they are holding up really well. The shoes clean up nicely whenever out and about in town. All that for 9.2oz! Amazing for a comfortable long distance running shoe. If you looking to go lighter check out the Norvan Superlight (SL) at 6.5oz. I dubbed the Norvan SL as Flight & Light (FL) as they are light and give me trail wings. Just keep in mind SL and LD2 are quite different shoes.

You-tubers (Norvan LD2 reviewers) were wrong

Thank you to the team who has been working on the NORVAN LD2. Quick review/observations: amazing combination of ...confidence (while you're running) quality (as the response feeling after the run) and durability (#use). I have been running in all situations with the Norvan LD2, and felt always in a good shoes, including raining days, they are stable, light and extremely comfortable. While raining, water goes in and out from these shoes, so you feel dry and no overweight! By the way, no issues with laces (front). Months ago I have been watching some disturbing YouTuber(s) anticipating a lot of issues with the Norvan 2 LD, ...okay, however after 200 KMs I can tell you that they were wrong. Expensive? Ohh...Yes. But worth the money! The size is true (e.g. 27.3 cm/ got the 42/3 EU, perfect), however in case of doubt ...don't size up! Dreaming to try on the gtx....

I want to like it...

I got these because I've always gotten Salomon trail runners and I was looking to mix things up. I love the look and I want to like them, but they're very painful for me to even walk in. They fit well, but the bottom of the tounge where the top of the shoe bends digs into my foot hard. This was super obvious just walking around my house, I never took them for a run because it was so clearly painful. I dont know if my foot is too big or what but I got my size and I'm dissappointed. This may be a manufacturing defect but a pretty cursory search didnt find any announcements of that.

Bad quality?

Am surprised that they break so easily, have not run many miles in these shoes! The sole of one shoe also slides up towards the heel, why? // Thomas

Great Shoe, but...

I've had a really hard time finding a good fitting shoe that is light, breathable and that can be worn for multiple activities. I bought these a few months ago and they fit perfectly right out of the box and felt very comfortable. I'm not a trail runner, but I've used these for walking along trails with my kids and dog and they perform really well. I can walk in these all day without my feet hurting or getting tired. However, I haven't used these heavily, more off and on, and the mesh in the toe area is already starting to fray and show some wear and tear on the outside of the toe box. I'm guessing at this rate, they will probably have a whole in a month or so. Great Shoe, but durability seems to be a potential issue.
