The Gentlest Workhorse
I love this shirt so, so much. First of all, no gaping. In all fairness, I have massively wide shoulders and a somewhat large chest. Nothing ever fits me. XXL or 1X is also billowy and insanely large chest down, but I have also ripped XL shirts and buttons at the shoulder and chest. This is meant to work. Even for broad, muscle-y ladies, this shirt can handle all your physical distancing work, whether it’s fixing a broken garbage disposal, transplanting cacti or going for a safe, masked walk! The color is awesome...super blue. It does feel thick but also cooling! I don’t think I’d overheat in it, even on a long hike. The multiple layers of fabric may not be everyone but it works for me.
Functional and flattering
This shirt is the bomb. I've got pale skin and like to be fully covered in summer hikes and when gardening. But I like shirts that are neither boxy nor made of slinky super tight fabrics that claim to be cool but just make me hot. I haven't been able to test-hike the shirt because of the pandemic but it's really hitting the spot on hot days in the yard. I love the feminine fit, the contrast detail at the buttons, the way it feels and looks. Classic Dovetail design--thoughtful, flattering, super functional. It's also got UPF protection. An excellent all-purpose work shirt for being out in nature.
New fave work and cool-weather hiking shirt
Liked it so much I bought a second one. Lovely details (roll-up tabs, extra button, stitching details, pen holder on R upper arm, excellent cut (intended to be worn untucked, which is generally my preference) for my 5'6", kinda busty and broad-shouldered build. Absolutely comfortable soft cotton fabric and nice-looking understated colors. Have gotten compliments. Really practical for my physical skilled-trades work, too.
Too hot for hot weather
I was looking for a shirt I could wear for landscaping and gardening work and for doing on-farm tours and consultations in South Georgia. I was excited to see a Dovetail shirt since I've heard so many great things about the company and wanted to support a womxn owned business. So the plus is that the shirt looked great and I was impressed with the level of detail. It even has a pen holder! Material seemed sturdy and abrasion resistent. A little tight in the arms though, but I'm fairly muscular (although a lot less since the gyms have been closed). Well I wore it outside briefly last week and it was, I'm not exaggerating, like wearing a plastic bag. Absolutely not breathable at all. It wasn't even very hot--only about 82-84 and somewhat humid. I was miserable after ten minutes. I think this shirt would probably perform well in a dry climate, but there's not way it could hold up to hauling compost or digging potatoes in the hot and humid Southeast. Will sadly be returning.
Perfect for a variety of activities
I've worn this shirt from work to play. It's nice with a tank top under it during working hours. Then I was able to turn around and wear it for a bike ride on a slightly chilly day. I see lots more wear out of this shirt. The only thing I would change is a darker color. But that's a me problem because I get light things dirty easily.
Comfy Soft Multipurpose Shirt
When I first received it, I thought, wow it seems pretty big and loose. After washing, the soft and comfiness really shines through. During this time of staying home, I wore it around the house and out for walks. We've had variable weather here in Minnesota which is just par for the course in springtime. I haven't given the shirt the workout its been wanting but it does keep you warm on a slightly chilly spring walk or even sitting in the house sewing fabric masks day in and day out! I've also layered it when mornings are pretty chilly but afternoons get toasty enough to be in short sleeves and shorts. It washes up nice, soft and oh so comfy. It's not too fitted and since it is cotton, very breathable and versatile. It's warm with the 2 layers of loosely woven cotton but very lightweight as well. Can see it on trips abroad because it will pack well and be a very versatile piece of clothing as weather conditions change or to throw over a T or roll up the sleeves. Soon I hope to be able to work in the garden and give it a real workout! I received this shirt gratis in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Dovetail Workwear Women’s Givens Workshirt
This is an awesome shirt! I have one in grey and one in paprika. Love them both for the nubby texture, yet softness of the fabric. They wash well and get softer with use. Very comfortable, roomy and add warmth over t-shirts. Great purchase!
A real quality flannel for women
This is a comfy, thick, flattering, real flannel. That can be hard to find for women for some reason. I have the blue and it's beautiful. Great for work projects or just general wear.
