More of a casual shoe

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had very high expectations for these shoes because I was wanting to try the Columbia OutDry system out and these shoes looked like they would make great daily drivers being stylish and waterproof, but I ended up a little disappointed. Columbia was trying to make a shoe that works as a hiking shoe and a comfortable commuter, but they missed the mark on both (though I love the idea and that they tried). As a comfortable commuter, these would be phenomenal shoes except for how stuffy they are. After wearing them more than an hour or after any physical activity, my feet became noticeably sweaty (more than my Adidas gore-tex shoes, and my work boots). Sweaty shoes don't bother my all that much, so the reason these are 3 star shoes in my opinion is their hiking ability. As hiking shoes these are incredibly comfortable for walking, but anything more than that and they fall short. My first outing with these shoes was to the beach on a rainy day, and they are certainly waterproof, even up to the ankle (good job OutDry). On my second outing I did some hiking, bushwhacking, and spelunking in Washington; a lot of hard use activities. I notice that for intense use the back of the heel protrudes way too far past the heel, which lead to the shoe getting caught on rock ledges and tree roots if you're not paying attention. I've also noticed that the traction of the soles is not up to my standards. Walking on wet logs or rocks I felt more prone to slip in these shoe than my Adidas Pros: -Waterproof -Comfortable -Stylish Cons: -Not suited for hard use -Sweaty feet -Poor traction -Poor durability

Functions Like A Columbia Hiking Shoe

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Finished a 16 mile hike in these going through dirt, mud, sand, and water streams. The shoes held up well and were comfortable. They proved to be waterproof and had good traction, but I did not hike anything steep. The one area of the shoe I was a little disappointed with was the looks. I was expecting the proportions to be like a running shoe (think Adidas Ultraboost). They have a narrow ankle section, but the rest of the shoe is slightly bulky like a 90's skate shoe. I guess the ruggedness and waterproofing needed more material/structure. Because of this I don't think I would wear these shoes casually.

Great fit, style, concept - Poor execution

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am not a strong, heavy or distant runner. I barely did a few hikes in these before they started to tear away from the sole. The toe box and webbing became completely frayed and torn after only a month of wearing (I'd say less than 20 miles of walking and hiking). For an outdoor company, for the price, for how extreme they seemed to callout that these are, they weren't. Returning today and restarting the search for a new hiking/running shoe. (I don't think the photo shows the extent of where the brown material was coming away from the black material. But you can see the black webbing frayed.)

This Shoe is a Game Changer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I loved the design right off the bat - almost looked to combine the modern feel of Yeezy's with the functionality of a typical hiking shoe. I'm not an avid hiker but go a few times a year and usually have poor footwear, but was always hesitant to purchase as I didn't foresee myself wearing hiking shoes for 360 days a year. These find the perfect blend of style and functionality. Really good grip on the sole and a comfortable fit. Feels like the shoe can 'lock in' while still allowing a good range of ankle mobility. I haven't seen any weakness to this shoe other than maybe limited color selection - but overall a huge fan!

Great shoe BUT the width runs small

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These shoes meet at the intersection of style and functionality without sacrificing one for the other. I just wish they would include a wider width option. I wear a normal size 14 in every shoe I own, so that’s what I ordered in these. I wore them for a few days and noticed my feet hurting more than usual when breaking in shoes. I had high hopes that they would break in and be more comfortable, but my feet couldn’t handle it :( I even returned them and tried the size 15, but the same narrow width hurt my feet. I really wish I could keep wearing them, but I can’t, at least not until they release a wider width option!

Bought for taking dog to park; Waterproof was essential.

I got these for taking my dog to the dog park. Here in Florida, the grass is super wet until lunch time or later, and my sneakers were always soaked. With these shoes, the water rolls right off, and the only moisture I've noticed is from my feet sweating. I routinely wash them off with the water hose at the dog park and, even fully drenched, the water doesn't permeate the shoe. Be mindful to wear ankle socks that are slightly taller than the shoe to avoid rubbing and blistering. Arch support is good, but the shoe is a little heavy, so they aren't super comfortable to run in. Otherwise, these shoes are my favorite!

Great everyday shoe

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was extremely impressed how comfortable these shoes were....there was no break in period at all which is also a huge plus. As a previous reviewer pointed out the shoe opening can rub a bit but i didnt find it to be terrible just a minor issue (there are other shoe brands with the same shoe opening so its becoming pretty common). As for the looks, i purchased the black/brown color combo, and can say they have a pretty decent look to them. Not a shoe i would wear for a night on the town or for more dressed up occasions (dont look that good with jeans) but if you are planning on being on your feet all day hiking or maybe to a theme park, I would absolutely recommend them.

Excellent for Trails, Hikes, and everyday wear

Extremely satisfied. Shipping came a day earlier than expected and I was thrilled. I wear a 9.5 size shoe and I was concerned about fitting. But just like Cinderella, the shoe fit perfectly. We went hiking in the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee and I felt secure and confident through the trails and rugged terrain. Not only did i wear them for hiking, they are comfortable and stylish for everyday wear. Highly recommend them !!!! Thank you.

Great Shoe Exactly what I needed

I see this shoe didn’t get such a great rating but don’t let those scare you. It’s like Columbia made a tennis shoe a boot, in the sense of comfort when walking into different terrains. These shoes are soooo comfortable and I love the sock like design. I had wide feet and Nike shoes are not a favorite since they’re so narrow. I can easily and comfortably wear these all day. Keep in mind there is a break in period like every other shoe but once they’re broken in they will feel like clouds. Don’t worry about your feet burning up because these breathe very nicely. I wear mine with socks and my feet still can get chilly. I highly recommend these to anyone’s closet as these are great shoes for sure!!

Cool shoe, poor quality

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used these shoes as a hiking shoe and after only a few hikes as other reviewers have stated the mesh material at the toe of the shoe begins to tear. Really like they style but disappointed that after placing stress on the shoe the quality folds. Would recommend as a casual shoe would not recommend as a hiking/active shoe
