Wimpy coffee filter wouldn’t work on its own. You still need a form.

Better than a paper filter and reusable

First backpack trip using the GSI Collapsible Java Drip (not sold here at REI for some reason - I recommend it) I brought a couple paper filters from home to use. That was a nuisance because if the filters aren't kept dry, they don't stay in tact. Paper filters create more trash to pack out. This reusable pour-over filter works wonderfully for backcountry coffee. One user complained it allowed too much super fine grounds to pass through. This, in my opinion, is what makes backcountry coffee delicious. After a night of less then perfect sleep, a strong cup of joe is so enjoyable the next morning.

Filter not very useful

My filter does not hold the water in the grinds long enough to get decent pour-over extraction. The watery coffee comes out as if the filter is not doing anything to hold back the flow. I have had to use paper filters with my collapsible cone, which works fine.

Great for traveling

I was skeptical when I received the tiny package. But it worked great and was easy to pack in my luggage. just dump it out, rinse and let dry for next time. I make 2 cups in a tall mug and had no problems at all.

Great coffee! Ultralight!

I use this with a sea to summit x pot and a sea to summit silicone collapsible pour over cone (not the one with the metal filter). Takes up minimal space, minimal weight. Makes great coffee and no waste. I have tried backpacking with a lot of coffee systems and this setup is my favorite.

Always have a backup

I love the original coffee filter with the clips. I love it so much I wanted to be sure to have a backup filter just in case. Very happy to have an extra in my supply closet. Two is one, one is none.

Coffee sludge

I got this filter to cut down on waste and save some money and stop buying filters. my husband hates the filter we tried grinding our coffee courser but ya can’t get it too course or it won’t make a good pour over, so he was tossing some of his coffee out so I’m not sure we are saving money with him tossing the last few sips of coffee out.it would have been so much easier to keep up with the one filter instead of a whole box, I had planned to take it camping and on trips but alas we probably won’t be using it at all so I wasted money instead of saving any

Camp/Cowboy Coffee Filter

Makes great camp/cowboy coffee, as the mesh let's a lot of fine coffee dust seep through as you pour water over your coffee grounds, mesh also doesn't really retain water so (I) use as a sock filter until the desired brew strength is reached. Fits perfectly in the Sea to Summit X-Brew Coffee Dripper, if you happen to lose the screen filter it comes with, like I did! Over all very happy with the reusable filter as it's more efficient and cost friendly than paper filters
