Multiple Quality defects
Disappointed in the quality. Frustrated by Multiple little defects. The nylon shoe lace loops would wear and snap. No work around for lacing shoes so just had to live with asymmetrical lacing. The stitching on both shoes frayed at the point where the leather pierce covering toe area is sewn onto the rest of the shoe. While I am active I have a desk job and live in a temperate climate. Only had these shoes for a couple years. Had another brand of hiking boots when I lived in the dessert and was hiking a lot that lasted over ten years. Only reason I replaced them was because the soles were almost worn off. maybe my expectations aren’t realistic.
Pretty Decent Hiking Sandals
I took these out on a two week camping trip with lots of hiking over challenging terrain and they held up well. I've also put around 20 km of highway walking on them and the outsoles are showing hardly any wear. These hiking/water sandals aren't super grippy but seem to be quite durable and will hopefully last a long time. If you don't plan on ever wearing socks with them (you probably won't) you might consider getting a half-size smaller than your regular footwear. Keep in mind that they will collect debris inside them now and then while walking through the wilderness, but this is the price you pay for their breathability. I like them so far.
Color is slightly different in person.
I'll make this review short and sweet: - Super comfy - Very well-built - Vibram soles are awesome The *only* thing to watch for, at least for the Olive Night color, is that the photo on the website is slightly off, as they are actually a few shades darker in person, as you can see in my photo. When I first got mine, I actually thought they sent me the wrong color and I had to come to the website to compare the trim colors on the soles and lace loops, since they vary based on the color you chose. They still look really good, though... I'm very pleased with my purchase.
Done almost EVERYTHING in these things
I've been using these for about 2 years now. Actually just got my second pair. I have done almost everything outdoorsy in these mandales. I've hiked miles in them, kayaked and canoed in them, spent hours on them doing retail work, and used them as casual shoes, biked miles of RTs in them. I've also run 2 Tough Mudders in them. One on Mount Snow and the other at NH Speedway. In fact, my old mandales are now solely reserved for Tough Mudders since they've managed to survive both. The fit can go from relaxed to tight, the tread is long lasting and grippy, the uppers are waterproof minus the holes in the sides. Fantastic shoes!
My first impression was, "Wow! This shoe is lightweight!" It's less bulky than expected too. The insole is some type of firm (not hard) rubber that has little lines in it that lead to each outlet hole on the side. I assume so water can run down them and out the holes more efficiently. The heel part of the shoe upper is all neoprene and is supported by a very firm elastic band that feels solid, like they will not wear out over time. You can slip it on and off easily enough without having to adjust the laces. I measure a 9.5. It was way too big. The 8.5 was just slightly too small. The 9.0 was perfect.
They are my favorite go to shoes.
I wear these shoes almost everyday. I've used these to run around like a crazy monkey shooting an "Assault" Rifle on LE courses and I've worn these shoes while hiking and swimming through Jamaican waterfalls. They stay on when I want them to stay on and they come off really easy when I want them to. I wouldn't recommend them for exposed scrambling, but they are super convenient approach shoes for switching back and forth to rock climbing shoes. They are especially great at the beach or on a dive boat because they have excellent traction and dry really fast. If you don't mind being casual, they are also great for clearing airport security. I can honestly say these are my favorite go to shoes.
I use this shoe in and around water.
Been using this shoe while kayaking for 2 years. In the summer, with bare feet, a size 11 works great. In winter, while wearing both heavy socks and a waterproof pants (with built-in footies) a size 13 fits best.
Excellent River Shoes
These shoes are great for wearing to the river or lake. I wear them when I take my kayak out. They’re as comfortable as they are tough. Cheap water shoes just don’t compare to the Merrell All Out Blaze Sieve.
Not good for up hill terrain.
I've just bought the Merrell All Out Blaze Sieve on 20th Oct. 2018. First use was just walk around camp area on concrete pavement which has some dirt on the surfaces. I slipped and nearly fell. Then I went light hiking and crossed some creeks. This time the shoes work quite okay. Second use was on 27th October. This time on uphill terrain and I walked with high awareness. The shoes are not suitable for this uphill terrain really. I slipped down once. My personal conclusion is that. I will use these shoes just for light hiking, flat and easy terrain, and creek crossing.
I Love These !!!!
This is my favorite shoe I own and wear now. I love fishing of all kinds, and sometimes wading and these are the best. I have 3 pair, for fear they will do something goofy and discontinue this shoe. Well I went to order the brindle color and now they are Oour of stock again and have been all year, see what I'm saying... Bring in more of my favorite show ( I have 6 styles of Merrell ) in my favorite color Brindle I know it's risky for me to let the cat out of the bag, but, I even wear these shoes daily sometimes just for the comfort. Will, Not be shoeless
