Product sizing guide is misleading / inaccurate
Jules
I ordered a Pearl Izumi Quest Road shoe online. According to the size guide shown with the product, size 39 is equivalent to a US women's 7.5. However, I received the cycling shoes, and the box label says that the 39 is equivalent to a size 8. I am between a size 7.5 and 8, and these are indeed too large on me to wear for cycling. Had I known that these were actually a size 8, I would have ordered a size down. I'll be returning them, unfortunately. I'm not sure why there's a size guide above (with .25" increments in sizes, even) when it doesn't match up to the REI sizing on the box (which actually seems more accurate).

cute, comfy, came quickly, and feel high quality

I am so happy with my order for these shoes, for 4 reasons: 1) the look is very sleek; 2) they're really comfortable; 3) they're kind of luxurious/high quality feel to them; and 4) they shipped really quickly. to elaborate further: i received the shoes within 3 days of ordering (thumbs up!). also, the cleats i bought (by the way, you need to buy those separately) fit very nicely on these, no issues whatsoever while attaching. recently, i purchased a different pair of spinning shoes that were defective and had no threads in the holes - it is SO frustrating when shoes are not compatible. these were awesome. i have a narrow foot and I'm a 7.5 (between full sizes) - it's nice that they have all the European sizing that cover US half sizes (I'm a 39, equivalent to a 7.5). they're also really cute, and i like the velcro straps a lot.

Hotspots galore one year later

For the first season of biking, these seemed great, and then they stopped working for me down despite having less than 500 miles on them. I get insane hot spots to the point where I cannot ride for longer than 20 minutes without having to get off my bike and shake out my feet. I think it is because of how narrow they are and my high instep (the top of my foot). I would "tighten" these as little as possible on the top velcro strap and my toes would still go numb and I would still get hot spots on the cleats. Not sure why they were more or less fine for the first year and now aren't working for me. I really liked the look of the shoes.

Solid quality, lightweight shoe

I purchased this shoe to ride my Peloton spin bike, and it's a lightweight, adjustable shoe. Easy to get on and off. On the advice of my friends, I purchased the same size as my sneakers (slightly larger than my true size) to account for foot swelling on long rides. The tongue only adjusts on the inside of the foot and is a little less cushioned than your typical cross-trainer, but in the few weeks I've been using it (4x a week), it's definitely been solid. Only thing I wish it had was a higher arch, but I think custom soles might be the next step. Cleats are sold separately, but were fairly cheap to purchase online.

Good buy. Good quality.

I use these shoes with my variis soul cycle at home bike. Good quality and half the cost of the soul cycle shoes. I used to use sneakers in spin classes. Cycling shoes gives you a better workout and better intensity.

Comfortable shoe, but runs small

So, other people have written that these shoes ran big for them. I actually found that they ran small for me in multiple ways. They were too short, too narrow, and the straps I couldn’t Velcro together. I am normally a size 6 (37EU). That’s what I ordered online and they were too small for my feet. In fact, even a size 7 (38EU) were a bit too snug. Size 8 (39EU) fit me much better. So, apparently I have fat, wide feet. If you have that, you may need to order a size or two up. I have a Peloton at home, which uses Delta Cleats (Three holes). But the Peloton at the hotels usually use SPD Cleats (two holes). I bought this specific shoe because it can do both cleats. I bought both Delta and SPD cleats so that I can swap them out when I travel and use the Peloton at a hotel.

good for narrow feet

After my dog chewed my cleats I was in search for a new pair during the sporting gear shortage of 2020. I reluctantly purchased these in white as they were the only pair available in my size between all NJ/PA bike stores. Glad to say I really enjoy them. They fit my feet well. The Velcro is tight. The sole is stiff. I do have a narrow foot and I fear other with even an average width foot would find them too snug.

Beautiful shoe

Just purchased: Beautiful shoe and fits well. Only complaint (and why not 5 stars) is it arrived damaged. I need these shoes quickly, so I don't have time to send back and replace.

Works well for indoor cycling

I bought this to use with my schwinn IC4 and so far I like them. I had a hard time deciding on which size to get but decided to get the size 40. I’m normally an 8 but wear an 8.5 in Brooks sneakers. The 40s fit well and have been comfortable during the handful of rides I’ve worn them for so far.

Great Biking Shoe

I had tried other shoes and due to toe issues, they hurt my big toe. This shoe is adjustable and flexible and extremely comfortable. I love them!
