Outstanding Knife Super Freek BM.
Great looking knife. First BM, very pleased with this product. Fit and finish are top notch. A tad pricey but well worth it IMO. Great job BM.
A solid Freek
The knife is a joy to use, the ergonomic handle w G10 feel great in hand, but is the M4 steel that add performance in the blade cutting and slicing ability. From open boxes and Amazon packages to prepping and processing food I really enjoy owning it.
Great addition to my benchmade edc rotation
This knife is pocket friendly yet also healthy sized, a nice big m4 blade that eats cardboard for breakfast. I obviously have not used it to baton wood, but I trust I could use it in a life or death situation for feathering and yes batoning wood. I like the feel of the g10, enough texture to grip, without the Spyderco pant shredding effect. Like every benchmade I have ever purchased a needed to loosen the pivot screw a quarter turn, in order to get the opening speed and ease I prefer. Also love the fact benchmade provides free lifetime sharpening, and they also do blade replacements for a reasonable fee.
Beautiful Blade!
This is a knife for big hands, period. I wear 2XL gloves and most knives don't offer enough purchase for all of my fingers. Benchmade has done it with this model. As always, the action took little to no breaking in for silky-smooth delivery of the blade. Rock solid construction; tough, edge-retaining blade in M4 steel; and nice red liners to contrast against the gray scales. It's a pocket-full, but it fits my hand so nicely and slices everything I want.
Benchmade 560
Little lock stick out of the box, looks very ice, over 250$ little pricey
Big, beautiful, sharp. Grip too smooth though.
This knife is large, visually appealing, and super sharp. The grip looks awesome, but it is a little too smooth. The belt clip is also quite small. My 551 S30V Griptilian has way a better grip and belt clip, but it looks like a plain Jane compared to the Freek.
An awesome larger, yet understated folding blade
The Freek has great balanced in the hand while the M4 blade gives you the confidence that it can take a beating. The G10 scales with the red base layer look amazing in person, pictures don't quite do the subtle pop from the red justice.
Great purchase
It’s a steep cost but the quality and level of craftsmanship are superb. I use this as an EDC and it’s been great for cutting cardboard, opening all sorts of things, and just random uses. I even use it on spare threads (military) and it’s been perfect. The grip and styling are great, as is the size. It feels good in the hand and the texture isn’t super abrasive, which I appreciate. At the same time I don’t feel like it’ll slip out of my hand. The lock is great, and you can adjust the screw to have the blade be a bit more easily opened and closed. It comes at a reasonable place though. All in all, very happy with the purchase.
A beast!
Great blade, the sharpest (by far) factory blade from Benchmade, Spyderco, Kershaw, Manly and others. May be being a special edition helps with the sharpening quality control. Cannot comment on longevity and strength, but M4 steel should be plenty strong. Great blade design as it handles apple, cardboard slicing and wood carving with ease. the only reason for 4 stars is the handle: good handle and all but not suited for such a large and strong blade. You'd need to use gloves for serious work. Love to see this blade in a fixed knife.
One of my favorite folders
The super freek is a well known favorite in the knife collector world. When executed properly, it really is one of the best production folders around, especially for less than $200. Benchmade has quality control issues, we all know that. Many companies do, but Benchmade has gone in the wrong direction. My knife was reasonably centered but not very sharp. I really do not mind this at all. If you don't like yours, return it to REI and get another one. I can sharpen mine. Be patient with the action. It is gritty at first, because the Axis lockbar is coated. The blade lock interface is not coated though. If you want a deep carry clip, you'll need to buy it; BM does not give them out free anymore. The great thing about this knife is it fills many roles at once. It is usable, tough, a decent slicer, cool looking, easy to use, and USA made. It is a larger knife, but I like that. Second only to my spyderco Spydiechef, this is my favorite usable folder.
