I picked up a pair of these pants on sale, without having any previous experience with Fjallraven. When my pair arrived, I was absolutely blown away. The attention to detail, that went into this product, both in design and ultimate fabrication, was unparalleled in my experience. And in the months since then, the pants have only broken in better, without losing an ounce of the punch that they initially came with. My only regret is that I did not purchase two pairs when they were on sale. Turns out... you can't wear the pair of pants, and wash the pants, at the same time. Anyways, yeah. I highly recommend them. Best pair of pants I've ever owned.
Best pants I've ever owned. you can wax them too!
Everything as promised. Great materials and enough pockets and loops for all your gear, so get a good belt. Sizing was a little off by REI chart, as according to that a 48EU is 33 inch waist but according to label it is 32 inch.
Bought EU 46 assuming the waist would be 32" as the chart indicates, they are actually 30"-31"(which is actually indicated on the pants on multiple tags) Going to send these back and after my return processes try to order the EU 48 and hope for the best, I guess. Other than the product image depicting the cloth with a black panel and the pants I received are all olive green, the product is what I expected as far as quality.
I have one pair of these lants that I used for 5 days backpacking the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore amd 2 days chasing pheasants on public land. The fit is perfect and the look good too. The pants are very comfortable and I had no issues with rubbing or anything like that. They were also comfortable while carrying and I had no printing issues as well. The pockets are great and I love that there are no back pockets. I was co concerned that I would lose stuff on the thigh pockets with the single snap. That was not an issue at all and I love the more forward placement on them too. The vents are amazing too. Whenever I would start to heat up on the long hike, I'd open the vents and air out for a bit. It is also very convenient that you can open and close the vents from the top or bottom. Big takeaway on durability. After 5 days backpacking and 2 days walking though the grass, thorns, small trees, and whatever else in the pheasant fields, they look BRAND NEW! I have many pants that have been destroyed in a single hunting trip. My jacket and vest are covered in burrs and other plant materials. I didn't have to pull a single one off the pants and I didn't feel a single thorn (definetly never had that before). I will definetly be saving up for more to have dedicated hiking and hunting pants! 5'9 155
Spent a week in Iceland hiking the waterfalls and trails in the SSE of the country. Quality stitch work and so many pockets for extra activities. They kept me warm in 40/50F with no base layer or insulation thanks to the gortex material so with a thin base layer I’m sure your butt will be plenty warm. Fit wise they are true to size. Im 5’9” about 165-170lbs and the 48 EU size fits perfect, I’m normally a 31/32 waist. Absolutely worth every penny and will be wearing these on so many more adventures.
After trying these on I decided to purchase 3 pair for work through REI.com. New they were great and had no issues. Wore them for work with trimmed Fjallraven knee pads inserted. I noticed the knees were wearing fast with some stitching coming undone within the first 10 times I wore them. I stuck with them because I really loved the way they fit. After approximately 150 times worn and 75 washes later, they all have become unwearable with holes in the knees and on one pair a broken zipper. I thought with the higher pricing and robust fabric blend that they would've lasted longer. If you plan on using these with knee pads and are down on your knees often plan on them not lasting. I think the material used is about as durable as denim.
I bought these pants to ride motorcycle from vegas to utah and back again, camping overnight in BLM land. After 575 miles, I have a new favorite pair of pants. They were comfortable the whole time in the heat and used long johns underneath when I got up in elevation in Dixie NF. There's elastic fabric at the crotch and inside thigh that might be weaker than the rest of the material but I did not notice it to be too airy while riding. No back pockets was not hard to get used to though the pants got a little tight around my thighs with my wallet in the cargo pockets. I have wax for the pants but don't see the need for it in the summer yet.
The REI size chart says EU 48 is equal to size 33. The tag on the pants says EU 48 is equal to 32. I’m 5’10” 175lbs, and normally wear a 33x32. These pants are a little short and tight around the legs and waist for outdoor work.
The Dark Olive pant does not have a black panel on the butt.
