Runs small in the shoulders

Jacket seemed great, and well made. But I followed Marmot's sizing recommendations and the jacket was too tight in the shoulders (with just a t-shirt on underneath) so I returned it. I'm 5'7", 170lbs, with broader shoulders and ordered a Medium. If I had planned to layer in colder temps, I'd have looked like Randy from Christmas Story and wouldn't have been able to move my arms. Unfortunately, they were out of size large when I returned it so I got a different style in a size Large and that's working out just fine. (Solaris, not a 3 in 1) Bottom Line: Despite Marmot's size recommendations, if you typically wear a large, get the large.

Great Ski Coat

If you're looking for a relatively affordable shell jacket to go skiing in, look no further. I'm a bit on the lean side, so a bit sensitive to temps.. I rocket this jacket out in CO for alpine skiing and was perfectly warm with long underwear and a long sleeve over it. It might seem a little flimsy, but the insulation is phenomenal. Super breathable, so you won't be killing yourself, yet warm enough to keep yourself from shivering on the lifts. The jacket itself just has a really cool style. If longer is not your look, you might want to consider something else.. However, long is kinda dope right now - so mimics that trench, pea coat-look.

Great Quality - Poor Service

Lifelong Marmot user for its proven durability but, I have had several issues associated with my purchase of this jacket. Having always worn a large in Marmot, this jacket was much too big. I even used the new size guide tool to make sure I was order the correct size in this jacket, which also suggested a large. However, I couldn't even reach the zipper while wearing the coat. In attempts to return/exchange the coat, the return page will not recognized my order number, even after trying on multiple web-browsers. I emailed support for assistance but, never heard back. I have also called support on several occasions only to be listening to a half hour of waiting music each time.

Another great Marmot piece

Bought this to replace my REI she'll from years ago. I like the compound nature and am currently skiing in single digits in UTAH with no issue. The only complaints I have are 1) you can't just pull your arm out when you are taking the coat off because there is one connection of the puffy party to the cost and it caught esp. on the side wear your watch. To attachment points may or may not solve this but it confounds me constantly. 2) no place to attach your ski pass low. Otherwise I have worn it in a cold downpour cold nyc frigid temps and it is great.. hood works fine with adjustment pull and fits nicely under so helmet. I do wish it could roll and be stored rather than flap around.

High quality jacket

I bought this jacket to help deal with nighttime shifts working in and on cell towers in Wyoming in the wintertime. This is a great jacket. The down inside is extremely warm. The lining does a pretty great job of keeping water off you. Love the hood visor and mouth guard design, really helps minimize the wind freezing your face off. I can use the outer shell in the wintertime at home in Arizona, it looks nice enough to wear over my dress shirts at work. The inner puff jacket is WAY too warm to wear in Arizona, period. All in all, this was a great investment, you should buy this jacket for weather conditions from -20F to 40F. Warmer than that it's unnecessary; colder than that you may need something heavier.

First Marmot product that let me down.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this coat for backpacking in Michigan's ever changing weather. Over the 6 months that I've owned it, I've had strings coming loose on the arms of the liner, and got completely soaked on a 30 minute walk in the rain.

Size of outer shell doesn't match with inner line

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is definitely a well-designed and quality 3-in-1 jacket. The only issue with this jacket is that the size of outer shell does not match with that of the inner liner. I am 5'7" 70kg. When I put on size S, the inner liner is way too tight around the armpit and chest, while the outer shell fits perfectly. However, size M is the opposite. The inner liner fits perfectly while the outer shell is way too loose. The whole idea of owning a 3-in-1 jacket is that I can wear each of them separately. Sadly, I had to return it in the end because of the size issue.

Very Waterproof, warm enough for Northern VA

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought the jacket last fall because of the 3/1 features. It’s very waterproof and warm enough for winters in Northern VA. May not be up to the challenge of a Canadian winter as far as keeping you warm enough. The shell is breathable enough and perfect for a shell and a t-shirt when it’s not all that cold but raining. The inner puffer jacket is what I use most during the winter and it’s perfect for my location for daily use, commuting in and out of the city and hiking. On the rare really cold days here a fleece and that puffer jacket keeps me very warm.

I'm Probably Too Picky...

Nice jacket. Warm and seemed well made. I'm probably too picky, but I didn't love how the collar laid when not zipped all the way up, and didn't like the way the hood laid in the back (brim rubbed back of my neck). Was also a little larger than I anticipated, but not terrible. I'm 5'11, 165 lbs and ordered a medium. The materials felt high quality, inside liner was warm and soft, and outside felt sturdy. Zippers were smooth. I ended up returning, but not due to anything wrong with the jacket itself. Just personal preference.

Great customer service even Greater Jacket!

Owned the Marmot Minimalist shell for 8 years before I just got the replacement. Easy to say it was my favorite jacket! Its stayed around for 8 years. Long story short glued seem on pocket gave way. Marmot customer service was great and simple experience. The update 3-1 version of the jacket is the old one on steroids. The outer shell is tough and will last a very long time and the added in zip out puff jacket is soft and warm. Zippers are tough and built to last.
