A durable bag with flaws

PROS: durable, water resistant, grab handles everywhere. CONS: no shoulder strap. backpack straps don't detach (if I wanted a backpack I wouldn't be buying a "duffel"). Overall a decent bag. Bought it on clearance. Made some of my own modifications to make it work. Wouldn't buy at full price.

Love this Bag!

Love this bag! The color is amazing, but I love how I can throw it around, wipe it clean after a trip and on to the next. Convertible backpack straps are comfortable and not flimsy or thin. I love all the buckles - sides, and across. Keeps everything contained. I have used Eagle Creek camping cubes for many years, some better than other, but still prefer how they keep everything organized. My only minor feedback is the zipper. I am sure it is because the bag is nearly brand new and the durable material just needs a little more muscle to zip. I look forward to this making my go-to bag for every type of travel.

Accepted as a carry on even when packed full

Although the side buckles were down, I packed it quite full and was able to use this as a carry on without any problems. It fit very nearly in an overhead bin while a messenger bag I carried separately went under seat without issue. The backpack straps are nice in that they tuck away and deploy very cleverly, but I'll admit it took me some time to figure it out. It's very thick and sturdy, but the zipper gets stuck a bit if you pull it all the way to the end. There are so many grab points that I just clipped a separate shoulder strap onto two of them and it worked fine like that too.

backpack straps are awesome

I bought this duffel for my child's week-long outdoor camp. It was big enough for everything he needed (except his sleeping bag), and while it lacks a long strap for shoulder-carry, the backpack straps are a nice touch and very comfortable (ftr, I'm 5'4" and not super strong). Of course, my child couldn't wear it as a backpack without toppling over, but I'm guessing it's not designed for 5th graders to carry while fully packed. The duffel came back from the trip muddy on the outside but dry and clean inside, and I am happy that all the zipper-pulls are sturdy and didn't get stuck at all. Looking forward to using this on future camping trips. Would buy again! BTW the arctic blue color is not purplish at all, just a dark blue.

Highly recommend this!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this bag for my recent trip to Greece - easily packed a week's worth of clothes and whatnot (without even having to expand it!) so I didn't have to check a bag and it still met all of Swiss Air's more restrictive carry on requirements for size and weight for the Zurich to Athens leg of the trip. Plus being able to use it as a backpack was definitely a plus for getting up to our fourth floor AirBnB apartment - lol my friend with her roller bag was literally asking me for a link to where I got this one by the end of our trip because she was impressed by how easy and durable it was. This is for sure my new go to adventure bag for our future travels!

Like a Timex!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used this style of bag for 3 years now. I love that it can used as a backpack to go hands-free or you can use the handles. It is shaped such that when its full or semi-full, it can stand up right. You can make the bag a bit more spacious by releasing the side corners. I can't complain other than I wish the bag was waterproof since I work outdoors. Unfortunately as to be expected after some heavy duty lifting for a couple of years, the zipper started to fail. I opted for a new one while I decide how to deal with my old bag. I always got compliments on the bag and there was not risk of folks mistaking my bag for theirs.

A great travel bag.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great addition to my travel luggage collection. The light blue color with orange webbing made it easy to spot on the baggage carousel, and the tough fabric and construction showed no signs of wear or damage. I used it to carry some heavy bike parts to Europe, and being able to quickly and easily turn it into a backpack was a crucial feature when walking to a bus and train, while pulling a large wheeled duffle and carry on. Then I used it on an overnight trip, with plenty of room for everything I needed. The numerous grab handles are very useful. The zipper is tough but takes some effort to open and close.

EC has done it again!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just got this bag. It is sooo just right!. I have a bad back and even loaded it is easy to balance and carry without a low back blow out! The H2O resistance is good and easy to keep your bag clean. I am a pack it system junkie and with them you can load up! Regular packing still gives you lots of room. Love the extra grab handles. It will be great toots on the roof rack and not have to use any of the ""roof burritos"" people use. only downer....boy was I sad about not having the option of the Sueno Andes pattern in the 40 L. So bummed! The bag is great and thanks for the recycling initiative !!!!!!

I needed a work bag

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I needed a work bag that was going to be tough but not overly big or bulky. This bag is that. The zippers and material are quality. It handled well when I had to carry 4 bags through the airport. (You can carry it like a duffle or a backpack) The colors are perfect. The orange is bright but not obnoxious. The blues have a grayish tint that compliments the orange. Love this bag.

Sturdy Bag

I bought this as a gift for my husband. It appears to be very well made with lots of reinforcing on the straps. The material is plastic-ey and should be fairly water resistant. The only thing that was not quite as expected was the color. It's called "arctic blue," but the body color is more like a dark purple. It is a perfect size for a weekend trip (with extra room to bring stuff back with you).
