Jogger Hiker Urbanite
Weird how right when I got this weeks were chilly and days were rainy or sprinkling. I got to use it right away. Climbed baldy & wore it starting out but got hot & stuffed easily & nicely into its clutch shape. Light weight! Morning jogs were kept dry & warm. Cool enough for afternoon hikes. I like that it's shear & has a reflective material. It definately kept me dry in heavy sprinkle/ light rain for 2 hours. Take it out on errands & restaurants. Goes with everything, fits me sort of like a tunic. It's a bit tight towards the hips but guess that's to lock in the warmth & keep the cold out but it has a tightening pull cord so doesn't need to be all that right if we can use the pull to decide. I'm 5'2 140 & got medium. Fits perfect. I use it for multi activities.
So compact you can ALWAYS carry it!
I have this in the Classic Navy/Rain Fern Multi color - and I LOVE it! I travel quite a bit for work and this is perfect to throw in a carry-on (or a purse, it's that compact!) to have with me if I get chilly on a plane or come across an unexpected storm. I've worn this in heavy downpours and been as dry as could be expected. There's a small elastic pull on the back of the hood to help with keeping it secure. Two drawbacks - no armpit vents and no waist pockets. So it can get a little steamy if it's a humid rain. There is a chest pocket that can hold small items - but not a cell phone. I'm a pretty standard small in all things Patagonia, and this fits true to that sizing. The hem is slightly longer (about 2 inches) in the back than in the front. The fern multi color has a navy blue base, with pops of coral, lavender and a sage-y muted Kelly green - so it goes with almost everything. And it dries quickly - you can basically shake it out and be "almost" good to throw in back in your bag and forget about it. A great lightweight option to add to your collection - a travel essential!
Good for running
Bought this for running outdoors during the cooler seasons now that summer is over. Medium was true to size, but a little snug around my shoulders, but it was still comfortable (I am 5'1, short torso, large bust). I ended up choosing a L so I can layer if needed. However, the L is too big/boxy for me - wish there was size in between M and L. Because I'm petite, the jacket is much longer for me and reaches the end of my butt. I would recommend this if you need something lightweight in a milder climate (California coast). I wouldn't recommend this if you need something for cold/icy weather, unless you plan to add more layers underneath.
A thin piece of fabric.
I purchased this thinking it was a different product. The color perhaps misled me because I didn't know it was such a thin fabric. It's a thin, waterproof, liner. I wouldn't consider it a jacket. A jacket would have some material to it. This was over $60 for what seems like the outside liner to a jacket. I put it on and was extremely disappointed. I live in Texas where it is warm when it rains, but I still don't know when I would wear this. I guess I can describe it as the tiny thin cover that goes above your tent to protect from rain.
Must-Have Jacket for Runners
This is a must-buy for runners. Feels like nothing but is mighty in function. Perfect amount of wind-breaking and it's thin enough that it doesn't make you so hot that you are fumbling to take it off mid-run. Wish it had side pockets and not just the breast pocket to make it a bit more versatile such as wearing it for a walk or a hike with the benefit of pocket storage, but I can see why there aren't any. Fair warning - basically all colors besides black are see-through. This might not be a problem to you but it was a bit disappointing to me because I wanted the light lavender color but didn't like that I could see my shirt underneath.
i favorite piece of outdoor clothing
i love this windbreaker. wear it all the time. it's impressive how much warmth this tiny thing can provide. it's not a full jacket so dont expect it to act as a puffy or a rain jacket. but for being so packable and light, i bring it running, hiking, climbing, backcountry skiing with me all the time. it doesnt take up much space in my pack, and any time the wind picks up or a drizzle starts, this thing will keep my body warm while still moving through the elements. it also dries very quickly. i'm 5'2'', 110 lb, XS fits me well.
Wasn’t convinced at first, but it has its uses!
Bought this to use for my wintertime running. On the first use, I was not convinced due to the lack of breathability and trapping a LOT of moisture inside (I sweat a lot). However, I started only wearing it when it was rainy/windy or around freezing temps and it was PERFECT for that. I’d say figure out your own gear needs and this may be the perfect jacket to fill that void! I got a size large for reference - the medium was a bit tight on my ~38” hips
Traveler
Amazing how small it packs! Good to take on planes trains and automobiles! A must item for every outdoors activity
Great jacket, super packable.
I got this jacket wanting something very lightweight but comfortable and stylish for cooler weather runs. I've been very pleasantly surprised. The fit is very flattering (including the length). It has kept me warmer and repelled more water than I would have expected, but still provides a great breathability to it. I appreciate that a lot, since I sweat even on cold runs. I also love that it's so packable that it can fit into a tiny hip belt/etc. and weighs next to nothing, so doesn't become an annoyance if you have to take it off mid-run. I like it so much it wear it all the time, even when I'm not going for a run. One of my favorite Patagonia items!
Wore this every hike this fall, winter and spring
This jacket is great - super lightweight but adds so much warmth in the winter for a power hike. I wore it every hike, 2-3 times per week, all winter. Layered over a smartwool zip jacket down to 40 degrees and then layered another jacket on top for the hikes in the 30s. Just wore it Friday over a tshirt for a hike/run in the woods at 60 degrees. Would be nice if it had pit zips and a pocket big enough for a cell phone, but then it wouldn't be as lightweight. Love it.
