I hike a lot – 1600+ Arizona hikes in the last 14.5 years. At 73, I hike (actually climb) Camelback Mountain 4 times a week. I used to do the two pair of socks routine until a couple of years ago when I bought a pair of Wrightsocks at REI. These socks have a double layer built in. I have put hundreds of hours on these socks and they are great. I have had to re-sew the toes a couple of times but that is more of a reflection on me (probably should trim my big toe nail more often). I just ordered another pair as these are getting worn. I don’t do endorsements very often but I could not recommend Wrightsocks any more highly.
I've come to really enjoy the WRIGHTSOCK's! The cushioning of these socks is really superior. As I've gotten older, I've come to appreciate that extra softness, while walking. I was initially concerned with the inner layer becoming folded or creased, if I didn't get the sock on just perfectly. But I've found I can work out any sort of crease quite easily, with very little effort, when first putting the socks on. The socks allow my feet to breathe, and the fit is always good (I buy the (XL) 12-14 size). I highly recommend!
Wore these on a 4-day backpack and (almost) never took them off. I carried another pair of socks (different kind) with me on the trip, but never could bring myself to put them on! I brought the other pair home 100% clean! I really love these and am now ordering two more pairs because they will be my go-to for all hikes in the future. I am so blister-prone but I had zero problems on this trip. And the no-stink really works!!
True to it’s claim this is the best hiking sock ever! I used two pairs on my 6 day trek up and down Kilimanjaro. No blisters or hot spots. The only day I did not wear these socks was my summit night when I opted for some expedition weight socks. I will be donating my “other-wool” socks and sticking to these socks for all my future hikes.
I bought 3 pairs of Wrightsock Double Layers for a 3 day hike. I really enjoyed these socks, they stayed on my leg well, fit comfortably and prevented blisters very well. My feet were dry throughout my experience with these, so I can't speak about other conditions. Also, I have only worn these once so I don't know about durability over time.
These are the best socks for winter or summer. They make my feet feel great with no blisters or pain even after 8 miles of hiking and i am a 54 yr old teenager.
they are soft and comfortable, don't cause blisters, and have washed well.
I typically have to wear liners under my wool socks when hiking and backpacking to prevent hot spots and blisters. I have worn these on several 10+ mile hikes over the past few months and have not gotten a single blister!
I have three pairs of Wrightsock socks I hike the Camino Primivito Pilgramage in Spain 206 miles No blisters
I always have hot spots and blisters when backpacking and sometimes even hiking. I have used liner socks for years, and now with the individual toes. That works pretty well. But these socks are SO comfortable, and extremely durable. So far I've just used them for hiking and I couldn't be more pleased. They stand up to a lot of use and washings
