DO NOT BUY, Destroyed two of my phones!!!!
DO NOT BUY!!!! This holder destroyed two of my phones. Look at the photos. The camera glass is broken out due to this phone holder. I ordered a new phone when I realized the camera glass was broken on my old phone, I just didn't know what broke it. My new phone came, I took it out of the box, took a test photo to check out the new camera and then went for a bike ride. Came home and the camera glass was shattered. The phone jiggles some while you ride and it will bounce off whatever it touches destroying your phone. This was on a road bike only ridden a short distance on smooth asphalt.
Works great!
Exactly what I was looking for; a sturdy mount that allowed me to use my current phone case. I got this mostly to play music while biking so if you are getting this for navigation you might have an issue with the straps being in the way (although I did use navigation and didn’t have any problems with seeing the map). I had read reviews about this not staying in place and, on its own, it doesn’t; I wrapped pre wrap around my bar and then attached the mount - it hasn’t budged!
Works, but not ideal
In theory the mount works, but found that the mount wanted to twist on the handlebars during a ride and constantly had to readjust the angle to be able to see the screen of my phone. Held the phone securely so didn't have any argument with that aspect. Tried to fasten to my top tube and the larger diameter of the tube made the metal bottle opener put a little ding on it so is limited to smaller diameter mounting locations (ie. handlebars). Ultimately ended up returning the item and going another route that is a much better solution for my needs.
Great little accessory
I really like this little guy. Bought it for my commute to work so I could manage my music while I ride. It attaches easily and is pretty versatile in touting options. I suppose on a really small bar it might have trouble but not on anything pretty standard. The whole thing is stretchy so it will fit over a pretty big phone. I have it over an iPhone 7 but with a wallet case (so it is thick) and it's no problem. Only drawback is that it does cover some of the screen so could be an issue if you wanted to do some really detailed navigation, but then you could just adjust where it sits on the mount. Again, not a problem for just managing songs and notifications. May pick up another for my wife.
Easy to use, durable, and Secure, thank you!
I have used an older smaller version and more recently a newer larger version of this mount which was necessary when switching to a larger phone in an OTTERBOX DEFENDER case. If you have a reasonably long and flat stem between fork and handlebars then this is the best mount I have found for secure hold, durability, and easy of use of phone in a “portrait” orientation. Only major drawback is the obvious one - the bands cross part of your screen, obscuring part of the view. But this is an acceptable trade off for the secure hold and ease of use. I have not tried or wanted to try on handlebars which would provide a landscape orientation for phone.
Best watch bar-holder ever
This a phone holder. And it will do that no problem. But I have this sport watch (Suunto Ambit 2S) that I use to record rides, heart-rate, and make heat-maps. Sure, I can wear the watch on my wrist, but I forget to start it and to stop it. Anyway, this holds the watch; no problem. I can even glance down and see my speed, even with both hands on my bar. And I haven't missed starting or stopping it since starting to use this holder.
Add nav/com capability to your bicycle
I had the clear model for a couple of years and loved it, used it for all my longer rides, whether for work or fun. Then someone stole it. I managed for only a couple of weeks before I had to order another one! As necessary for my bike as brakes and lights. And whatever plastic polymer they use, it lasts forever, even holds up under copious amounts of strong California sunshine. You'll need to experiment with where exactly you want the twin bands to cross your phone screen of course, so they won't interfere with the apps and functions you use while biking, but once you get it dialed in, it is bombproof, even with my smaller more slippery iPhone SE.
Not for facial recognition
It holds the phone secure. As some mentioned in reviews, it is hard to see the info on the app, but can be positioned to read better. I have to use on the top bar which is glossy, so it does move around a bit. Not a huge deal. The main issue is on my iPhone 11 that uses facial recognition. The bands block the ability to swipe up to open the phone.
Rock solid... can unclip phone with unclipping mou
The photos don't make this entirely clear, but there are two hooks. One hook holds the band around the handebars. The same band then continues to be stretched around the phone, and is secured by a second hook. It's easy to unclip the phone and not have to deal with unclipping the whole mount. This mount isn't going anywhere. Even with a heavier phone that has an extra battery attached to it. It looks like the clip could also be used as a bottle opener.
Rotates and doesnt last
In theory it works well but in practice it rotates on the stem cause my stem is rectangular and the underside mount is round. One if the bands securing the phone is beginning to tear and will fail in the first season. Wish it worked better.
