Super compact for easy storage and very nice to use. DONT LET THE PRICE SCARE YOU AWAY.
I haven't used the set yet but it packs nicely and looks good but I was expecting a 9 inch fry pan like the description says but it clearly measures under 8 inches, I don't know how they can even pretend to call that a 9 inch pan.
Aesthetically this set is nice to look at , however only after 1 use the pot and pan stained brown and food was stuck to the stainless steel. We cooked on top of a coleman portable burner, and it was set at medium to low heat. The orange grab handles also discolored to a tan color and seemed like they were melting. When we brought the set home, we washed the pots and pan with the recommended non-abrasive cloth and mild detergent, and unfortunately our set is still stained with burnt marks. If you are going to be spending 80 dollars for a portable cook set, you're better off spending the extra money for a non stick coated set.
Nice compact set that takes up minimal space. My own problem is with the fry pan. It’s seems to be chrome plated and after a few uses, the chrome is starting to delaminate
I picked this up because I've found myself doing more off-roading trips than backpacking since moving to the east coast and wanted to supplement my smaller backpacking kit for when we go with friends. It's excellent quality and light weight if that really matters but I can't help but feel this kit falls between the two typical use cases. For the car camping or overlanding crowds, this kit is sufficiently large to cook for a small group of 4-6 making it an excellent choice. However, it's also super thin and hot spots were a real issue while cooking. I have a Camp Chef Everest stove and even at the lowest settings the stove was capable of, I still had to constantly monitor what I was cooking to prevent burning. Might be as much an issue with the stove as the cookware but this is a well-regarded stove and typical of what many will own. On the other hand, for the backpacking crowd, the super light design would make it an excellent choice - if you are traveling in a group and can split gear amongst you. Otherwise, this kit is just too large for 1-2 person trips. I suspect the hot spotting issue I had wouldn't be an issue on my Whisperlite stove or something similar. On that note, there is a ton of room inside the smaller pot that a Whisperlite will move around. You could easily fit a stove, a camp towel, and a few folding utensils inside. So for me, this just doesn't work. It's too tedious to cook when I take the truck and it's far too big when my SO and I go backpacking so I'll need to find something a little heavier that does a better job managing heat.
This is a well-designed cookset. I really appreciated the strainer lids with silicon thumb pads and how compact the set is when packed. Unfortunately, the material is not magnetic, so it didn't work with the induction cooktop in my van. I had to return it.
Great kit I use car camping. Drain holes on the lids are nice for pasta. In addition the handles and thumb pads keep you from buring your fingers. Stainless steel.
Super compact and extremely durable. I got rid of all other camp kitchen items and replaced with this set. So far, no disappointment. They easily fit into each other and the net bag keep everything contained.
We have a camper van so wanted something small. Love that the frying pan has a thicker bottom not flimsy. The drainage holes in lids means you don’t need a colander!
I took this set out camping a couple times and was not impressed with its performance. I will preface this review that I am an avid home cook and I like to brings those skills with me to the campground. I was excited to purchase a cookware set dedicated to camping instead of lugging my good home pans with me every time. I will say the nestling system was great and it was always easy to figure out how to store the pans back in their convenient mesh bag. Even my partner and friends who’d never used camping gear were able to figure out how to put it back easily. But this pot is not just about its portability and ease of storage, it’s about performance. I’m experienced using stainless steels cookware and aware of how finicky and sticky it can be due to heat and not enough oil. I used these pans on the low setting of my Coleman whenever cooking. Food would stick so easily despite adequate oil. It was a nightmare to cook eggs on this thing. Some parts of the pans were hotter than others, resulting in uneven cooking. There also was an unsettling ping that would almost pop from the pans as they were heating up, cooking, and cooling down. These pans seem rather thin because they conduct heat so easily and overheat so easily. I know an aspect of camp cooking and cookware is to be as quick as you can and use the least amount of gas/cooktime, but even working efficiently the pans would quickly overheat and splatter oil everywhere. By the end of almost all cooks, there would be baked on char at the bottom of the pan. That brings us to cleanup. This is what ultimately led me to return this product. These pans are so hard to clean and stain like no other. It took an effort of multiple friends taking shifts trying to put all our elbow grease into cleaning off the char from the pans. Even with several washes and tons of elbow grease, there would still be be burnt bits stuck to the pan and some staining and heats spots. I doubt the performance and longevity of this product over long term use.
