Great Vest
I really like this vest. t does the job around camp in keeping me warm without the bulk of a full coat. It's not bulky and packs down very nicely in my backpack for my moto adventures. The deep pockets are a big plus. I can stow my cell phone in them with no fear of losing it. Even better, I can zip the pocket up 1" and nothing falls out. Excellent. I like the way the zipper comes up all the way up the collar to give my neck some protection. My nit-pick is that, while driving home from my recent adventure in Utah, it rubbed my underarm a bit to the point of being annoying. A half-inch relief there would do the trick. I am impressed enough with this garment that I will buy its sleeved mate shortly.
Poor zippers
The multiple Columbia down vests I've had have been excellent except for the pocket zippers. They're junk and when they break make the vest pretty useless to me. Talk about an achilles heel and its frustrating that product managers & designers screw this stuff up.
warm, cozy, flimsy zipper, quick-peel logo.
Okay-ish vest, warm enough, comfy...however, the zipper is flimsy and the white Columbia chest logo began to peel off a few months after purchase. Mostly disappointed in the sub-par zipper; not suitable for active outerwear.
Very warm, VERY long vest!
I bought this vest to use as a second layer between a warm base layer and a Pearl Izumi AmFib jacket for skating on frozen lakes, canals, and rivers (usually about -15C). The Lake 22 down vest worked wonderfully as a second layer by keeping all my body warmth intact. I'm only giving it 4 stars because the vest is WAY TOO long and I had to fold the bottom over about 6-7 inches just to make it comfortable. The vest gives one a feeling as if one is wearing a dress. Whomever designed it either has 5 extra vertebraes or wasn't paying attention when cutting the main pattern. Buy it for warmth but be aware it's rather uncomfortable because of the length. This vest is true to size except for 7 inches too long.
Long Torso - Michael Phelps
Maybe if I had had the torso of a US swimmer, this would fit just right, but in my case, I’m just an ordinary GI who likes outdoor stuff. This one wears like a skirt. I’m sending it back to give a stab at the medium. Would give better, I’ll change once the Med comes in.
Now own two
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The sizing here is odd. My husband typically wears a 2XL or XL in Columbia gear because he has very broad shoulders. He started out with the vest in XL and it fits almost baggy, so works as a jacket alternative over a sweater or something bulky but does not fit well as part of a layer when doing something active. It was weird to order him a size L but that was the right fit in order to get a close to the body fit that would be comfortable under his big heavy snow coat.
Shockingly Warm
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really don't mind winter and don't normally get too cold personally but when it does get cold I hate bulky jackets...especially when driving. This vest is shockingly warm for as thin as it feels. Not bulky at all. Even down to single digits...walking from vehicle to office with a long sleeve shirt is no problem for me with this vest. Zippered pockets are great for keys. Even two inner pockets (open on top but deep enough). Love it.
Warm, needs features
This vest is light and comfortable and very warm and fits well. The inside pockets are large and great to store a hat or gloves. it packs small, which is a plus. I bought it replace my 9yr vest. Two draw back for me are the lack of a dual zipper (for sitting on the bus or in the car) and a vest pocket.
Good vest but now as expected
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The description says that it folds into one of its pockets I see no way or possibility that it will do that and that property is why I chose it. It is a good vest with two zip pockets on the outside and two glove pockets on the inside. It is light duty and suitable for layering. The cleaning instructions say to not dry clean which is odd since I have always had my down garments dry cleaned with excellent results.
Lightweight Warmth
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great, lightweight vest for layering. I'm 6' 3" 180 lbs and got the medium, as I wanted something I could fit under a jacket or over a shirt without too much bulk. It's a nice slim fit and it's just the right length, maybe even a little long, but I don't get that cold draft up my back when I bend over.
