great value
This is a great second pad or starter pad if you're a beginning boulderer. It's well made and well designed, with more than adequate cushioning for moderate heights. The angled hinge helps to protect from the dangers of a protruding rock or root at the crucial juncture. It packs a decent amount of gear, and can certainly handle a couple pairs of shoes, chalk bag and water bottle--probably more if you worked at it. A minor feature, perhaps, but the hook/buckle device that secures the pad in a closed position has a far smoother action than the buckles used on our Black Diamond pads. I'm very pleased with the pad, particularly for the price.
Solid Pad
As the other reviews have stated, this is a great pad for a great price. It is perfect for beginners or as a second pad. I keep it in my car in case I stumble upon some good rocks and it is perfect for that. It is compact but still big enough to cover your fall area and has been good to me even with higher problems. I recently fell 18 feet and landed on it and was uninjured though if you are focusing on highballs, I would suggest getting a pad designed for that. My favorite feature is the shoe-cleaning mat in the middle of the pad, I absolutely love that as there tends to be a lot of leaves/mud around where I climb. Great value!
Good for price
Light weight and durable. Isn't the softest landing but will definitely keep you from getting injured. Overall a good inexpensive crash pad.
4 years of use and still feels great
I’ve had this pad for about 4 years and use it whenever I go climbing which is about once every 2 weeks. I’d be wary if you are climbing alone with it, but it holds up well and has saved my butt from some sketchy highballs. Scratch pad in the center is a really clutch addition
Great pad for lowball problems
Awesome well-built, durable pad (outside material feels noticeably stouter than my madrock). BUT because of the density/squishiness of the pad I feel like it’s best fit for shorter problems. I’ve fallen on it on 15ft+ problems and bottomed it out. Paired with a mad rock pad it’s perfect because it’s much more comfortable to fall onto on the shorter stuff than my thicker/denser mad rock. Would buy again!
Worth it!
This is an excellent pad, I saw many people with this when I went outdoor bouldering so I would suggest writing your name somewhere :). Great landing cushion and shoe carpet. I like that the pad has a cover for the backpack straps to protect it from dirt. I am so happy with this purchase and the employees were so helpful!
Good for a first or spare crash pad.
It's small enough that I want to be careful about where I fall, and I want to trust my spotter, but otherwise it's well made, and I've been happy with it. If you know you're getting big into outdoor bouldering I might recommend getting one of the bigger ones out there, though.
Gives a soft catch!
This pad will remind you of the ‘soft catches’ of your world class belay partner In all sincerity, though, a good entry-level crashpad that gets the job done well. A spotter is always a good idea!
Lightweight and SOFT!
Bought this pad in mid April, and 2 weeks later and a few backwood trips in the North East it has been absolutely solid. Even though it's a smaller pad, I've taken 15+ ft drops on to it with easy on rough New England terrain. If you're looking for a pad to throw in your car and keep on hand for a quick sesh, highly recommend the session II
Lightweight and super functional
Love this crash pad- awesome value and at 9 pounds it's easy to hike in and out
