AMAZING lights! Another great Big Agnes product.
I had previously bought Revel Gear Trail Hound lights; I returned them. The copper wire tangled horribly. These are far superior; they easily clip into the top of both my Big Agnes and Nemo tents. The fabric covering doesn't tangle at all. They pack easily into the stuff sack and are incredibly light weight. I highly recommend them for additional ambient lighting in the tent!
Doesn't match other mtnGLO lights
These lights work great and are very versatile. You can hang them anywhere and do give off a good level of light, but it is not a pure white light like the other mtnGLO products. I bought these to match the Big Agnes mtnGLO Gear Loft I have inside my tent, but they are very yellow in comparison. Will be returning only for that reason.
Docked 2 stars for useless blinking light feature
I bought the blue/green lights, and like the softer lighting. I can easily see well enough to find any misplaced gear at night, though reading a book would be problematic. The lights are very helpful in finding my tent at night. I knocked off two stars due to Big Agnes having replaced the dimmer switch option, which is a beneficial function on a camping trip, with a flickering off and on function. Whose idea was that? Big Agnes should bring back the dimmer switch whether they keep the blinking light option or not.
The perfect camp lights
Just what I needed. These so far seem more durable than the strand they replace. Don't know who made them but the old strand is just a coper wire. It's long. Too long and it's switch was hard to use. These produce a perfect warm glow. fwiw I see a lot of comments bemoaning the switch and its blink function getting in the way. This isn't a problem if you don't use it. (Too bad they sell it with one. I mean - who uses AAA anymore?) Just plug them into any USB A power bank instead. Perfect!
LOVE this lil light!!
I just love this lil lantern! It puts off a nice glow when you have the lights in the bag. I initially ordered the clear/white lights — and have another white one coming along with the red lights. The lights themselves are nicely stitched in a fabric sleeve. So if you want to use them to hang up along something, they’ll be great. You won’t have a bright white bulb vying for your attention. Runs on 3 AAA batteries (not included) and has an excellent run time. Duracell makes rechargeable AAA and has a good mobile charger to help defray battery cost and consumption. Big Agnes put in a glow in the dark zipper so you can find the lantern pouch fairly quickly.
Lovely glow
I love these tent lights! They have a lovely, soothing glow and I am amazed at how many hours I have used them without needing fresh batteries. Since these also have the option of plugging the usb cord into an electrical source, I have used them in a variety of settings, including as night lights for my child in hotel travel. I know that they are not designed to get wet, but I sprayed the bag with tent waterproofing, attached a D ring, and clip them to the top of the bow of my kayak (where they stay pretty dry) when I am out on very calm water at dawn/dusk.
I tried all 3 colors (green/blue, red and white.
The red lights are too dim, even in my two person tent. The white lights would be better if you could dim the lights instead of having the incredibly irritating strobe light function. The old model had the dim the power option instead of the annoying strobe light. The dimmer option needs to be brought back by Big Agnes, docking a star until they do. The white lights are not bright enough to read a book by for example, but are plenty bright enough to let you find what you need at night in your tent. The green/blue lights are my favorite, as they too let you find what you need at night without blinding you or waking a sleeping tent mate. The lights illuminate a soft blue color. All three colors are brighter if strung up in a line, but issue a softer, slightly dimmer illumination if put in the included white bag to be hung from the tent ceiling.
The perfect subtle lightweight tent lights
Let’s start with what this is NOT. It’s NOT a super bright campsite illuminator strand. If you’re looking for that, there are 1 million other options. That said, for an ultra lightweight tent light that doesn’t blind you, yet covers the entire area, it doesn’t get much better than this product. I especially love that you can keep it wrapped up in the tent when packing. Only thing I would love to see updated is having a lighter battery pack that is rechargeable rather than three AAA batteries.
Perfect Tent Lights
I am obsessed with these lights. I purchased them 3 years ago and they have held up over all of my camp trips. They make a great tent light for settling in at night and they're super easy to hang up. The only drawback is the blinking light setting. I thought it would be a nice twinkling light but it flashes on and off like I'm having a rager in my tent. Still, best product I've used for lighting my tent at night.
It makes the tent very nice at night, indeed.
This is a very nicely built tent light. When you get it everything is stuffed into a white triangular pouch (The product photo shows a green/blue bag for some reason - nope, it's white). This pouch is meant to be both a storage bag as well as make your string light into a single hanging bag light. In the tent, the lights aren't really that bright, but out in the dark outdoor nights it turns out to be the perfect amount of light for your tent. You can play games, read, fix your gear, or just relax to a gentle glow in the vast darkness around you. It powers off a USB charger (See my BioLite PowerLight Mini review). I now just keep the string lights attached to the inside of the tent and just wrap them up with the tent. They seem rugged and built for this kind of use. I use the pouch to store my other lights and power supplies, and sometimes make it another light holder since it softens the light source and has a hanging hook. I hope you enjoy these lights, too.
