made for the mountains
I bought this jacket in hopes of finding a good all around jacket for hiking, i used it for a 8k summit in the pouring rain in the 30s, jacket did as advertised and kept me warm didn't sweat me out when I sweated and kept the water off me the whole hike, the omni-tech is like a survival blanket on the side of your jacket it reflects heat you produce into warmth and if too hot regulates the heat outside with good efficiency, to be honest I didn't expect the jacket to breath as well as it did when I sweated. packs down into my front stash pocket of my manta ag 36, weight is great can't comment on actual weight as mine is a small and they use weight from a large on website, I would buy this again and can't wait for more snow
Great jacket, could use more pockets.
I bought this jacket on sale and can say it's a great jacket for the sale price. It's light, breathable, and waterproof and perfect for chilly nights. One thing I wish it had was more pockets on the inside and perhaps on the outside by the chest. The two pockets at the waste are ok but could be a little deeper. I would recommend this jacket for the sale price but probably wouldn't buy it for the normal retail price.
Surprised
I also got this jacket on sale, was a little unsure if I needed or really liked it. Felt like I wouldn't need it but ended up taking it to NYC and DC for a week at the end of March. Turns out it was the best thing I brought on the trip. The weather was really cold, highs in the low 30's for NYC, with a bunch of wind, and was surprised how comfortable to fit a light fleece underneath. It's not the warmest jacket I've worn, by any means, but it was cozy with some extra insulation. Others have mentioned the pockets could be bigger, I don't have that complaint, though i wish it had a different lining, my hands were dried out from the cold, windy weather, and the lining of the pockets seemed to catch on them. Hood was nice when the windchill was super low. Not sure why they put a removable hood on the jacket, seems like it would look kinda odd without it. I would make it non-removable for newer models. The fit of the jacket isn't slim, but I felt like it looked pretty good, and layering under it was easy when needed. I'm 5'11" 215, and the Large has plenty of room for me. The OMNI Tech waterproofing works as far as I can tell. One day it was in the 50's in DC, the next day temps dropped to around freezing and about 6 inches of snow fell. I was stuck outside for half an hour waiting to get into one of the museums in the wind and snow, and was warm and dry when I finally got it. The one thing I wished was that the exterior fabric had more robust DWR on the outside. I think it has a bit, but after a little bit of precipitation, the outer surface looks like it's starting to get saturated. The inside of the jacket never felt damp, so I'm assuming the waterproofing system was working as designed. I don't know about the durability of the fabric long term, but for what I paid, and it's usefulness traveling, I'm pretty happy about the jacket, and feel like it was worth the $100 I paid.
Great Cold Weather Coat
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It blocks the wind, rain and snow. I am surprised by how warm it is while being so light. I like that it covers below the waist. And you'll probably laugh at me, but when I sit in the car this coat covers my lower back and keeps it warm. I wish I had purchased this coat years ago! I got this in green, so the inside looks a bit like neon green - no big deal, just saying.
Everett mountain jacket
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The jacket is just what I expected. It fits great and the omni heat dots keep me warm on cold days and the omni tech keeps me dry when things get stormy and wet. I recently went on a winter backpacking trip and it performed flawlessly. The temps were in the teens at night and I couldn't have been more comfortable.
Great Deal
I got this jacket end of season 2018 and have worn it out and about in 20-30 degree weather without any issues and only a t-shirt underneath. The Omni-heat tech seems to work well on cold snowy days. My only complaint is the lack of pockets as well but other than that it feels like a solid jacket!
Very thin for winter coat
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great quality but seems very thin for winter coat. Went with the Powder Keg down jacket and looks great. Would highly recommend the Powder Keg for any winter activity. This coat runs about true to size, maybe a little big in the sleeves as they are a little “baggy”.
Warm and Dry
I Wore this coat in the Scottish Highlands with temperatures around 50 degrees (or less) and frequent rain. It was perfect for that environment. It was warm without layering and kept me dry in some relatively heavy downpours.
Great quality jacket
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great quality, very soft and fits well. Haven’t got the opportunity to test it in real cold weather but i have other jackets with the omni heat reflective technology and they work great so i believe this will do too.
Did not like it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It gets bulky at the front and the sleeves are very thin where the torso part is of good thickness. So my arms are cold. The inside is actually cold to touch.
