Great at drying... flimsy dial timer breaks.
I've had two now and have returned both. The timer dial tends to break and no longer function. It's flimsy and any sort of contact like gently knocking into the dryer and the internal timer on the dial breaks. I'm getting a different model this next time. If you do purchase this put it high on a shelf where it can't get run in to.
DryGuy is great for drying and for warm feet
This DryGuy is a sweet-spot between ultraportability and drying time; boots and mittens are dry within an hour or two, rather than overnight, yet it's packable in a (large) ski bag if traveling by air. The quicker drying time is driven by an actual fan rather that convection heating, which generates a small amount of ambient noise; I don't find it annoying, but I wouldn't put it next to my bed. 15 minutes in the morning is all you need to add some warmth to the boot for those like me that have cold feet problems in colder conditions. I haven't had the product long enough to comment intelligently on its reliability, but I will say that a friend had the same dryer that we've used for several trips and we recently realized (after my purchase) that the heating element had failed. DryGuy customer support wasn't at all helpful, but admittedly it was outside of the warranty period. Even so, a product that manages to survive only through the warranty period + 1 day hardly deserves 5 stars. Hopefully mine will last longer.
Best Investment Ever!
We have had an extremely rainy fall and with two kids running XC and playing soccer, this product has kept their shoes, cleats, our house and my car smelling amazing!
Cannot recommend
After reading the glowing reviews of this Dry Guy Force Dry Shoe & Glove Dryer I am saddened to say it did not meet my expectations and this experience has left me wondering if I have received a newly redesigned version or an entirely different product. Negatives include: Portion of rotary switch that may be gripped to turn on is too slick/smooth to be useable, especially with cold wet hands. Rotary switch makes loud clack when turning off at end of cycle. Motor is much louder than expected with a buzzing noise coupled with a high pitched squeal. Heater emits acrid PVC like odor. Will be returning.
Quick, efficient, well worth it!
I have been more than impressed with this dryer. I have fully submerged my boots while outdoors, and this dryer can completely dry them in less than 90 mins. It is quiet compared to other boot dryers, and it has been worth every penny I paid for it. I have recommended this to other friends of mine who have also purchased now. It does and excellent job and I am very happy with my purchase.
Dries soggy running gear
My husband asked for this for his birthday. He runs 6 days a week, regardless of weather, so he gets wet. DryGuy is doing the job to dry his shoes, gloves and socks. It not annoyingly loud. You do need to remember that you are essentially moving air around and if your DryGuy is working on drying stinky shoes, your area will smell like that to some degree in that immediate area.
NOT for Ski Boots
Purchased the DryGuy Force Boot Dryer primarily for ski boots (as this is pictured in their ad). Unfortunately, even with the arms fully extended, they do not reach the bottom or sole of the boot. They heat and dry the cuff, but the toe remains cool and wet. In fact, the most remarkable thing about this product is how cold the toe and arch remain in relation to the rest of the boot. Seems like it would work well on shoes, mittens and smaller items, but that's not what I purchased it for.
Does what it says on the box, mostly.
So far it has been working overtime drying AT gear everyday. Seems to me to be a very efficient way to keep gear in good condition. Though for the amount I sweat climbing mountains, I think their drying times are a bit optimistic.
So Glad I Bought This
As other reviews have pointed out, it does feel flimsy and breakable. Mine has withstood almost daily use for a few weeks now. This works great, and gets the funk out of my bike cleats after a soggy commute, and de-stanks my son’s soccer and baseball shoes. It may seem obvious (although it wasn’t to me) but use this in a garage or outside.
Drying with dryguy
Just received our dryguy. I went for a hike in the rain today and put the dryguy to it’s first use. Gloves dried in about 10 minutes , dried boots in about 20 minutes. Very happy.
