Solo Stove Bonfire Fire Pit
This product is not available. Good news: we have a newer version.
This portable fire pit delivers a hot, efficient fire in a clean, stainless steel package. Best of all, the Solo Stove Bonfire minimizes smoke, so your neighbors won't be anything but envious.
Shop newer version- Designed to keep the fire centered and even, the single-piece, 18/8 stainless steel fire ring is precision tooled and hand polished
- Precision baseplate allows oxygen to be fed directly to embers below, helping to burn wood and twigs faster and hotter while allowing spent ash to fall out of the process
- Ash pan catches loose ash and prevents it from clogging vital airflow; ash pan also acts as a heat shield and prevents your Bonfire from scorching the ground beneath it
- Vent holes near the top of the burn chamber allow preheated oxygen to fuel the flame, resulting in more complete combustion and a hotter fire with less smoke
- Fire ring sits securely on the top to help focus the heat; turn it upside down to nest inside the fire pit for storage

Awesome fire pit!!!
This pit is everything and more than we expected. Use on our wood deck almost every evening. Easy to get wood lit, almost no smoke (if you remember to twist open correctly, lol) absolutely NO burn makes on deck. Would ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND
Perfect mesmerizing fire
I finally decided to buy the bonfire model after looking at Solo and Breeo models. The Breeo models were too expensive for my budget and the portability of the Solo Bonfire won me over the larger Yukon, which is also portable, but larger than I needed for our patio. Getting a fire going was easier since the design allows airflow under the kindling, and the walls block the wind. Within 10 minutes I had raging fire. Once the fire is established, as long as you keep the wood below the rim, the low smoke design really works well. There will be some smoke when you get it started, so never expect no smoke at all. The heat coming off the top was wonderful and the bottom was warm, but cool enough to touch and hold a hand to without getting burned. I was on the fence about getting the ring stand, but I had just freshly sealed our aggregate pea-gravel patio and didn't want to take a chance. I would recommend the stand also if you're going to use it on a wood or composite deck, or on grass you don't want to leave a mark. Note in the photo I have it on two 4x4 cut offs to keep it off the patio. The stand is on order and had not arrived yet for our first fire. The Bonfire is only 19.5" in diameter, but put out plenty of heat for 5-6 people to gather around it comfortably. You might squeeze in 2-3 more with the Yukon. The aesthetic design is beautiful sleek and streamlined, and fit well with our preferences. The fact that after dumping the ash, I can put it in the supplied carrying case and store it in the garage, further maintains the clean atmosphere for entertaining. I found on the Solo site so many accessories if one desired to cook over it, and the heat it puts out would make everything from steaks to pancakes to hibachi with the right grill options. Considering I have a grill 10 feet away and the kitchen just inside, I think all the cooking this one will sere is hot dogs and s'mores. All in all, I highly recommend this firepit and consider it a great value for the price.
The jury is out...
It is a nice fire pit; however, I have some concerns about actual functionality, not just the beauty of it...Hence the three star rating. I used my 20% off to pick up one of these yesterday and did my first burn in it. It smokes as any fire would until it gets up to temp then the 2nd stage burn kicks in and the smoke stops...Not a big deal and expected. Where I am slighty disappointed is the heat radiance. A traditional open chimenea will radiate heat not only in a 360 degree pattern, but also from a top to bottom pattern so you're warmed evenly from head to toe. This tends to radiate more like this (pic attached) which may be an issue for people burning in colder climates or during winter months. I can't speak to rust issues or discoloration yet as I've only burned one fire in it, but the directions clearly state to empty ash at the end of the night and to not leave it in the elements (snow/rain). On my next burn I will attempt to build a bigger fire and see what that does to the heat radiance from the sides. I like to sit out on the deck in the winter and make a fire...I don't just want to see a pretty fire...I want it to warm me up too! There's a solo-stove user group on FB. Someone is experimenting with heat deflectors...I may do the same. To be continued...I'll update my rating accordingly.
Great smokeless fire pit
I took this car camping, as I wanted to sit by the fire, but not reek of smoke. It was easy to get the fire going and produced a warm flame without the smoke. I put a grate over the top and boiled my water on it. Great product and excellent for car camping. And the carrying case is really easy to get it in and out of.
I dont smell like a campfire
I just got my solo bonfire and already love this thing. 1st off its bigger than the pictures make it look. I was worried my family would be huddled around something kinda dinky. about the size a washing machine tub its perfect. Combustion is incredible. It really burns wood. the flow of air keeps big chunks from burning mostly and then petering out. Burns wood to coals quickly for s'mores or stack more in and get the fire up above the rim. Best of all it combusts so efficiently that I don't have to come in and immediately shower because I smell like a campfire. leaves nothing but ash behind when its done. Cant wait to use it all summer long.
Best fire pit. Ever.
I've had this pit now for 2 months. I've burned ~5 fires in it on the back patio. It is amazing. - They are not kidding when they say it is essentially smokeless; so you don't end up doused in campfire smell by the end of the time. - The flames are beautiful. - Its really really easy to start - all it takes is a couple sheets of newspaper, a few kindling sticks, and then your logs. Every time I've been able to do it in one light. The drawbacks that I have found are: - It's not weatherproof, so you need to put it in the garage or the handy protective carrying case. I love this thing!!
Doesn't really minimize smoke
We have used our Bonfire 8-10 times in our backyard, always with dry store-bought logs cut to the right length, without overfilling the pit, and we always clean the ash out of the pit after each use to ensure good airflow. It still produces a lot of smoke, both soon after lighting and after burning down to embers. It produces so much smoke that it defeats the purpose of purchasing it in the first place (to have a low-smoke fire pit for our backyard, since our neighbors are very close on all sides of our backyard). It produces nice heat, it's easy to use, but it doesn't minimize smoke even when we follow all of the tips on the Solo site.
So far so good!
I'm a long time user of the Bush Buddy gasifier (not the Solo knock off) but saw this and it peaked my interest. A bit pricey but with the annual 20% discount, dividend and several Christmas gift cards ... I know own one. Works as expected and as advertised. Getting a nice bronze patina as most stainless steel does as heated. Clean up is super easy. Let it cool down, take ring off top, turn upside down and dump what little ash is left and place bag over bottom. Rotate upright, insert ring upside down and your good to go. Burns so well, there is very little soot inside. Maybe every couple times wipe inside with dry paper towel ... or not. One thing I have noticed that opening the bag for removing the unit ... no typical old burnt smell like you would expect. CONS: Needs a spark screen option or at the very least a solid cover to place on it if you want to leave it before completely finished with the burn. Would never use water on this to put out the remains of the fire. I've read reviews of rust but I think these maybe from folks leaving it out in the elements. For now a 21 inch metal trash can lid works for me. Allows me to walk away from it with those remaining few coals unable to pop out and start a fire! MY NEW FAVORITE TOY
Close to perfect, but rust a concern
What everyone else says is true- once it heats up, there is very little smoke, it radiates lots of heat evenly in all directions, and leaves very little ash. No more moving your chair around the fire every time the wind shifts, no more coming home from camping with your lungs feeling like an ashtray. The carrying bag could be easier to use and carry, but it does the job. My primary concern is that the perforated interior bottom rusted heavily after first use, so I have doubts about longevity.
nice fire...but rust
This fire pit is super efficient and produces very little smoke...that's the good part the bad...it does rust. I've had mine for about 6 months now and the sides have begun to rust...i dont' know how much longer the stove will last. I've done my best to keep it clean and dry. I'm guessing the heat of the fire does something to the stainless steel - and it will rust
