Outstanding!
I am a longtime fan of G Shock watches, I have ised them in military service in some of the harshest environments and in the civilian world. I now work as a RN in the ICU setting, some may think well that can't be a harsh environment-- wrong. The daily abuse this watch takes at work is incredible, constantly under awkward constraints that would do most watches in, the mineral glass is virtually indestructible, the band flexes and twists flawlessly, and the watch components stand up to the nearly 100-200 hand washings a shift. We don't use sissy soap either! I only wish my hands could hold up as well. Now for the outdoors side of it. Used it, a gps, and standard compass to compare bearings, headings, and directions. TOP NOTCH performance was as accurate as my GPS unit, which will now stay home on my trips. The thermometer was spot on as well, only drawback is it only will accurately to 14 F. Sometimes I hammock camp in temps lower than that. I am also impressed by the super illumination feature now on certain G shocks, fantastic improvement over their poorly lit watches of the past. Point blank impressions: only cons are the the temp issue, doesn't go low enough, and it's not solar powered. Really would have liked to see a solar powered battery at this price range, couldn't justify spending $400 more dollars for it though on the triple sensor version, which only adds an altimeter function.
Fantastic watch
Finally, after trying the GP 100 that was too dark to see the LED negative display, the Rescue that had too small of a LED display, and the Gravity Master that the beep sound didn't work, it was a great find getting the Mud Master with a clear LED readout, the best looks, easy setup, most comfortable, and has been keeping dead-on time, persistance paid off.
Mudmaster review
I love this watch. Time syncs very easily and keeps time. With other g shocks I would have to make manual adjustments to keep the time accurate. The watch is very sturdy. I live very adventourously and all its parts and buttons are still tight and working. This watch is a little bit larger and heavier than the basic g shock, but you get used to it. Buy this watch.
Bloated and Overpriced
I bought one of these today. I needed something that I would not feel guilty beating up on. Let's just say I was horribly disappointed as I tried to wear it and use it. First of all, I have 8" wrists and this watch protruded about my arm more than any other watch I have ever seen. There is a reason not a single product view shows this thing from the side. Wearing this under a couple layers on the arms was not comfortable in the least. Next, the functions. The compass was off by 15 to 20 degrees. It was not something you would want to depend on. The temperature was also off by around 5 degrees F. Their is no lume on the dials and the light that is there does not illuminate everything. Its effectively useless in the dark as a result. In short, this thing is bloatware in all meanings of the term. Its going back tomorrow.
Love it
Got this watch shipped to me as a gift back in April while deployed. I already had a G-shock (5600), but decided to swap out. I lived in a VERY AUSTERE location and I like this watch. There are some issues that need improvements but considering the desert conditions I was living in and how harsh I treated this watch…..it held up. I’m home now and I still wear it.
no good
got it in the mail today, opened it up and tried to set the time...no go, tried to set the hands (analog) no go, spent $320 bucks to hassle with a return, customer service nightmare etc. It might look good but its not worth 5 bucks. Ive had other g shocks, Im a retired USN diver and I know my watches and how to navigate around the settings. Its not user error folks, its a piece of junk.......So u roll the dice....sure wish I didnt.....
rugged
Rugged, perfect for outdoors long hikes hot and cold. I was probably
Very disapointed
I had to order this watch 3 times and each time the battery did not work. First watch came with no power out of the box. 2nd watch came with 30 days of power, then dead. 3rd watch came with no power out of the box. I think that purchasing a watch of this caliber it should not need a new battery as soon as you buy it. Also, opening the case I am sure would void any warrenty.
