Only reviewing to provide more pics and details
I just picked this up after having it shipped to my local REI. Upon unboxing I realized there were not too many pics/details available aside from those provided from BA. I have not used this yet, but am about to take it on a whirlwind 2 week 5 park trip out west so I picked it up to haul along. The fifth star is pending how it performs, but I have had a lot of luck with BA products so starting with 4 stars. I considered another shelter and ultimately went with this one because it can be set up as both a sunshade and a screenhouse for $100 more than the other one I was looking to purchase which didn't have screen walls. Sooo....on to the review.... The briefcase carry bag is approx 28"x18"x6" when all packed up. It unfolds like a garment bag and one side has sewn in pockets for the poles as well as a mesh zipper pouch for stakes and guylines. On either side there is a large pocket for the fly and the screen/body with elastic on the top of the pocket to help keep them tucked away. The stakes, guylines and tensioners are pretty much standard equipment. I will be replacing the tensioners with aluminum ones as I have had a few get too much friction and fail to hold during extreme wind. The poles are larger diameter poles than those found on my other BA products. They are more like the ones found on large tents because that is basically what this is. The carry bag is pretty much white, so you know its going to look sharp after even a single season of use. /s
Bugless eating is priceless
The ability to prep food, socialize, and eat without any worry about even the few but surprisingly persistent bugs in Colorado is such a treat, especially when you hear them banging against the outside of the screen. Packing it up is easy; Big Agnes must know I'd prefer to shove it in the carrier, and so no specific origami folding is necessary since they made a pocket big enough to hold it no matter how you fold it (or don't fold it). Beware of setting it up without the fly without underneath pine trees, as the needles might get stuck in it. All in all, it's so slick to set up, pack up, and so spacious that I can't wait to take it camping with my other friends - they'll all be so jealous!
We travel fulltime and this has been amazing
We travel fulltime all over the country and this shelter has been great! We keep it hanging on the wall in our storage trailer we pull and it is super fast to set up (it does take two ppl, but I can do it w the help of our 10yo daughter). I have slept in it when we had guests and not enough room in the camper, we eat under it, we hang out under it, we have put it on the side of the camper to keep stuff dry in rain. We use it all the time. It is prone to high winds and shouldn't be trusted if it's super windy to not fly around a little bit we have used it with the screen and without and it is easy either way. We have used it regularly for 9 months now and it's still in great condition. The bag is super helpful too and makes putting it away a simple task.
A Kite In The Wind
Bought this for a sun shade and to use in bug country. It's primary purpose is to keep shade on us while we are offroading in the desert. Unfortunately any gust of wind and this thing became a kite. Setting it up was difficult in the wind. Keep it staked down in the wind was impossible. The wind we were dealing with was only 8 to 10 knots.
