VLT is greater than it seems

Listed with Visible Light Transmission @ 15%, but I just took them outside on a sunny day and stared at a white wall and a chrome gas grill...very bright, far more than I'd have thought, with plenty of glare. What's gone wrong? (Returning.)

Fit my big head great. Most goggles,even ones that say they are for larger faces, are just not that comfortable. At this price point. These are a great pair of goggles.
