Forward Lean a Problem
The XPro 100 has a forward lean of 13 degrees and no spoiler which is a heart shaped piece of plastic at the back of the liner. The consequence for me is I lean back when skiing and find it impossible to get forward. If your an aggressive skier this boot may not be suitable. I have been skiing twice in the last month and noticed the detrimental lean forward. Reading reviews on the internet the XPro 100 is an all mountain boot and the 13 degree forward lean is easy to walk in when fully buckled up. Without doubt these boots are the best fit ever with the inner and outer heat mouldable. Just be aware of the forward lean that does not suit all skiers ability and is not adjustable.
Comfortable boots
I’m your typical intermediate skier who enjoys the blues/blacks occasionally does something cool, but also doesn’t test fate. I have been able to use the boots 3 times since purchase & each time they get more comfortable. I’m slowly tweaking the buckles to get that just right feeling. We’re well down the path & I’m a happy camper. I’d recommend these boots to anyone who cares about a comfortable fit in a performance boot.
Solid Performer
I bought these boots at the beginning of this season. I liked the fit right out of the box, and the fact that they were customizable through heat-molding. After skiing on them a couple of days, I went back to the shop for the customization process, and got the boots really dialed in. I am a ski instructor and so spend a lot of time in boots. These are definitely all-day boots, and stiff enough for me to ski well without being too stiff for me to teach in. They are also sturdy enough to last. Love 'em!
Awesome boot!
My first season in these boots I did not have them molded and they performed great with just a couple "hot spots". This season (2017-2018), I had them custom molded at a boot fitter in Colorado Springs. Now, after the molding process, these boots feel like I am wearing a second skin on my feet/legs. HIGHLY recommend doing the custom molding as I can now snug the clips down for total control with no discomfort at all the entire day.
Disappointed
I have worn these boots 3 times and by the last day my feet were hurting so much it made skiing miserable. I have narrow feet and the outside of both ankles just above the heal and below the ankle bone is extremely tight in this boot. I can’t tell you how disappointed I am in this boot. My 7 year old Lange boots are more comfortable!
I’m sorry to hear about your bad experience. Salomon has designed this boot for a customized and moldable fit. Having a precise fit, especially around the Metas is a key factor for Precision. If the shell is too wide you will lose precision, if the shell is too narrow, it will be painful so you will not feel the terrain. You need to have the shell in your exact foot shape. In order to do that, you need to have the boot molded to your foot shape. This is exactly what our certified technicians at sell points do for our racers; this is exactly what Custom Shell will do to your boot. We develop a specific plastic material Kaprolene that allow us to mold the boot around the foot. This means you can have a top performance boot without foot pains: we're adding comfort to performance. Needed some breaking in
I got this boot at a ski swap in Fall '17 for a very desirable price. They were new with tags. For the first 10 days out on the hill, my left foot would go almost entirely numb. I messed around with the buckles constantly to no real avail. Like the other reviewer I saw here, skiing was less fun than it should be before the boots were broken in. At some point, I got some ultra light ski socks. That helped a little. In the end, I just committed to muscling through the pain and then things just got better. No more numbness or pain now. Actually, the boot fits very well. It keeps my heel and toes exactly where they should be and there's no play at all in the ankle area except for the appropriate amount of forward flex for my skiing. I'm an advanced skier but not a terribly heavy person, so the 100 flex is fine. I haven't played around with the flex adjustment yet; I'll try that soon. I didn't do the heat mold thing yet either. Maybe I'll check with the local shop before winter '18/'19 to see if the heat mold is worth pursuing after the boots been broken in. All in all, I'm psyched about the boot---now that it's broken in---and am very happy that I bought this particular boot.
