No filling = no warmth
I'm kicking myself that I began labeling winter gear before really looking at it. Like others who've written reviews, this is our 3rd year buying a Columbia snowsuit set for our little one. This year however, I noticed (too late to return it) that there was almost no filling in the jacket. It is almost just 2 pieces of synthetic fabric between my child and the bitter Chicago winter. There isn't even a fleece lining throughout-- only in the hood. The reversible Columbia jacket I bought to serve as my little one's fall/spring jacket is actually more substantial. I'm very disappointed in the quality (lack of filling) of both the jacket and snow pants.
3rd year buying Columbia toddler snowgear
This is my 3rd year in a row buying Columbia snow jacket/bib sets. The features that I really like are the reinforced seat and knees and the "Outgrown" seams. I have not yet used the Outgrown feature; I have 2 boys that are staggered in sizing just enough that hand-me-downs from the first kid are a size off by the time it's the appropriate season for the next boy to wear it, so I think using the Outgrown seams will help all the previous snowsuits we've loved fit just right for our second kid. We paired this with the Powderbug Plus II boots and sometimes my son wears the bibs from this set with his Shimmer Me jacket.
MN Approved
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Living in MN you never know what to expect during the winter months. Personally I always expect the worst and prepare for it, weather it happens or not. No matter what kind of weather we have, my kids never want to come back inside. When I started to see that my 3yr old daughter was growing out of her jacket and bibs I instantly grabbed my phone and logged into my Columbia account and found her a new snow suit, Toddler Frosty Slopeâ„¢ Set. With all the features it has that makes it MN weather approved, it also has the Outgrown feature which I wasn't familiar with. Now when I notice that her jacket or bibs are getting to short, I just remove a string and will get some more use out of it.
Great snow / ski outfit
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the second frosty slope set I have purchased. I bought this for my toddler to use in the snow. We live in a place where there is snow during the winter. It gets very cold. The frosty slope set slips on easily and keeps my son warm and dry. He is typically outside for 1-2 hour increments then comes in to warm up / take a break. The quality is good and you can tell the jacket and bibs are both well made. I especially love the outgrow system, as my son is tall and lean. Sizing seems true as well. We got 4T and he wears the same size in his other clothes. Thanks Columbia for a great product!
Thinner than you expect
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this thinking it was going to be a thick warm winter set for going outside and doing winter sports for my 3 year old. The jacket is a lot thinner than you would expect for the price and it being a winter coat. Seems more like a fall weight jacket. Need to buy a fleece for her to wear under it if going to be really cold or outside for long period. Can get coats a lot cheaper that are much thicker elsewhere.
Toddler Frosty Slope Set
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Was looking for a set that would keep my grandson warm, dry and not having to walk around like the abominable snowman. It did all three. We were out and it was a very wet, drizzly rain, snow and he stayed dry and very warm. I am hoping they come out in larger sizes next year as I would definitely buy this again. We spend a lot of time outside during the cold, snowy season here in Wisconsin and this set is great.
Excellent for an active toddler in light snow
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] While I wouldn't want to use this snowsuit in a heavy-snow environment like the Rocky Mountains, for a Seattle winter where it snows a couple times at around freezing temperatures and leaves some light snow on the ground, this snowsuit is perfect. The coat can double as a coat without the pants, and is warm enough to handle freezing temperatures (though as I said I wouldn't want to go much below that).
Good suit for growing toddlers
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good suit for growing kids. Depending on when your kid is growing and the cold months, you should be able to get at least 2 winters out of it because of the adjustable inseams and sleeves. A thread can be cut to lengthen suit by about 1-2 inches. Need a fleece base layer in really cold weather. But in moderate cold the suit works fine with just long sleeves as base layer.
Seems a little thin
Seems a little thin compared to the Buga set we purchased for our daughter last year. However, the price was right. We had no complaints about her being cold on a 35 degree day, but we will see how it stands up to the Colorado winter and ski season. I have no doubt it's waterproof, I just hope it keeps her warm!
Unbelievably cute
We purchased the black floral color for our daughter and it is unbelievably cute. The colors are bright and the fit is perfect. We got the same suit in a different color last year, and it kept her warm and comfortable, so we wanted to get another one for this year. Definitely recommend for active little ones!
