Perfect rack basket for our car!
We camp, take road trips with our dogs. We needed a sturdy rack basket to fit our 2017 VWGolf Alltrack, This Thule basket fits perfectly and we purchased the set of locks separately to make sure it’s on there when we need it.
Looks stylish on the 2023 Outback Wilderness
I installed my Thule Canyon XT cargo basket using a different brand of cross rails. The Thule bars were out of my budget. I had to flip the Thule mounting brackets on the mounting rail to face the center of the car. Otherwise the bracket would rest on the rails plastic end caps. It only moved the mounting u-bolt 2” to center and points the locking mechanism to the center of car. The u-bolt connects the cross bars to the mounting bracket and the mounting bracket connects to a nylon coupler that connects to the basket. Everything is steel except the 4 mounting points that are nylon. Other than the nylon couplersThe Canyon XT is put together well and is large enough for the 2023 Outback Wilderness.
Great addition to our 2017 Honda CRV.
Pleased so far with my Thule Wingbar Evo crossbars and Thule Canyon Cargo Basket combo (installed on 2017 CRV) purchased from Rack Attack. Timely delivery, ease of assembly, and installation. One disappointment: three of five bolt / wingnut combos securing the basket wind screen vibrated loose and were lost on first trip. Contacted Rack Attack customer service and was referred to Thule. Thule promptly mailed replacement bolts, etc. (GREAT customer service rep and response; replacement hardware delivered before we returned from our trip.) Caution future purchasers to add LocTite or similar product to these bolts.
Generally pretty solid
This is generally a solid item. Hardware is simple, but some parts are proprietary which can make replacement not as simple as a visit to the hardware store. A pretty solid rack. A) The fairing doesn't sit completely flat. Check out photos that aren't ads & you'll see it everywhere. B) Scratch-resistant is not scratch-proof, so inspect it. I've used this for boxes, gear, bags & duffels, and moving. It's a workhorse, but a portion of the cost is the name. It's also gone from $300 to $350 to $370 in about four months, so, you know... wonder to what degree folks are asking "How much can we get people to pay for this?"
Rack it up mate!
I knew that my Subaru may be my primary residence along with my tent. I also have a bike. I looked into small trailers/pop-up, hitches-I am a fugal person and a minimalist who does not want to "pay the man" any more than I have to. I researched and decided on this rack for my Subaru outback- along with a Saris Bones 3, and to decided to primarily sleep in my tent. (I can also sleep in the Subaru if weather is threatening lightning.) Why forgo the attachments?-cost and the Subaru has a low hitch/tail weight of 250 lbs, a hitch is costly, and license and storage pay to a camper-all are costly and not practical for me. I did by rack on sale and picked it up in Orlando-I use a luggage bag in it-totally worth it-this is my home away from nowhere city.
Great basket
Very practical thing, especially with extension. The only thing you have to be be prepared is the wind noise it generates. Absolutely satisfied with this purchase.
Thule Roof Rack
The roof rack is an excellent product. But when I got it delivered, it was not long enough to reach the crossbars on my Toyota Tacoma. After further research I realize I also needed the XLT extension that is sold separately. After having both pieces assembled and installed on my roof, the roof rack works well. The only complaint I would have is that the wind deflector is held on by 5 screws with a thumb knob to tighten them. After tightening the thumb screws on, they came loose during a long road trip and the wind deflector almost came off. I will be securing the wind deflector on with either a locking nut or using some lock tight to keep them from loosening during a long trip.
Really strong and sturdy
Perfect for ford explorer timberline I have the extension and it covers the entire room also extremely quiet
Excellent fit, and looks terrific!
Great quality roof storage basket. Fits great on my 2020 RAV4. Love it.
2 XL duffel bags, sleeping bags & more
I bought this rack after packing the interior of my Outback to the limit for a 4 day trip to the beach. The rack, with the addition of the cargo net, performed as expected allowing me to place large bulky items on to the roof and secure them for an extended drive to the Grand Canyon form southern, CA. Additionally, I was able to pack the vehicle more efficiently and place the majority of the weight in the center of the vehicle thus eliminating the squat the vehicle had on my last trip. I will only add that when assembling the rack, make sure not to over tighten the bolts used to join the two halves together. I tightened one bolt too much and striped the threads, and I was being careful. Mounted directly to the factory crossbars on my 2018 Outback.
