Nice fit, bad fabric
I bought 4 pairs of these shorts and loved how they fit. They had a slight stretch, were comfortable and looked pretty good. Only one pair of them is still wearable after just a few months. The first pair had the material get badly damaged doing light yard work. These are supposed to be "climbers" ripstop materials, but they are a very soft cotton and that's part of why they are so comfy. The second pair had the color start fading almost immediately. I follow all the wash/dry guidelines and use a very mild detergent, but the color didn't hold after just a couple of washes. The third pair has an affinity for oil stains. Every time I put them on, there are new stains that I have to try and treat and remove. I don't have this issue with other brands (except maybe Arc'teryx). I've been very disappointed and will take the 2 pair I bought from REI back (the other two pair came direct from Vuori). The material needs to be reconsidered and the dyes as well. Otherwise, this is a comfy pair of shorts that would be great for casual, lifestyle use but go very easy on them and don't be surprised if they stain or if the color bleeds out quickly.
Vuori apparently means strange sizing
Vuori means strange sizing. I have multiple pants/shorts from Vuori and each seems to be completely and independently sized. As a result they are almost completely unpredictable when it comes to fit. Sometimes I take a large, sometimes an extra large and then there is the oddball medium. I would love to see the models they use to design their clothing as it must be quite the variety. Anyway, my normal size is a large, I ordered a large and the waist fits great and the shorts are very high quality. However, the legs are about 4 inches shorter than other pair of shorts I own! So unfortunately I will be returning them. The search continues.......
Great Potential but fatally flawed
I need a strong light short to hike and bike pack in, they really do fit the bill as far as fit and comfort. First time I washed them the draw string bunched them up to the size of a soft ball. They also started extremely fade in the seat and along the front, anywhere there is movement. I've got 10 year old dockers shorts that look better than these. It's a real bummer, please have someone test your product next time. I do have another pair of these in Olive that I only wear casually, they seem to be holding up better. I have to use a washing machine bag to clean them or the draw string will bunch up.
Just Got The..
This review only includes my initial impressions. as I have not had the chance to put them through the ringer. I purchased the Kahki color and they look just like in the image on the web. They seem durable and do have a bit of stretch in them. I would size up one from what you normally wear, as they seem to be off one size. As a point of reference, I normally wear a 36" waist in pants/shorts and I purchased an XL. Hopefully they do not shrink as they are mostly cotton. I'll have to test them out to see how durable they are.
Mostly perfect
I have these in every color and have worn them through three seasons. I can confirm that they will lose their color rapidly in a hot tub or pool with chlorine. In general, the darker colors all fade in a way that makes you think the base color of the textile is tan. The side leg pocket is so awesome that it sucks go back to any other short layout. They fit slim and small to size, but they are durable to most interactions other than snags and pokes—in which case they well rip stop as expected. Great casually and great functionally. I’ve worn them hiking, hanging, and however!
Don’t waste your money on these
Run small. Color faded on the thighs after maybe 2 washes. Very disappointing for $90 shorts.
Too tight in the thighs
I don’t consider myself to be an especially stocky person. I’m a lifelong cyclist and runner and am not built like a rugby player. I also own several size L Vuori tops which fit me as well as my tailored shirts. Yet somehow Vuori shorts don’t fit for me. They fit fine at at the waist but are uncomfortably tight at mid thigh. I don’t consider myself to have huge quadriceps yet according to Vuori I do because every pair of their shorts I’ve tried has this same peculiar fit issue.
Never Would Buy Vuori Again
Ripstop? More like rip-easy. This fabric lasted two washes and has little rips in the crotch just from washing im assuming. Light wear for a week before random holes appeared. Ever urinate your pants a little? Well I do in a blue moon occasion and it left a weird permanent spot stain. Just a total bad product and I doubt I can return due to the nature of the defects. Will never touch this brand again. Once again, ripstop? But they ripped with no cause within a week.
I don't understand the sizing
I ordered a pair of these last year in size L and they were REALLY tight. So I returned them and sized up to an XL. They were still surprisingly snug for XL's but I like the style and material so I kept them. I thought I'd like another pair so I ordered them in XXL even though I own nothing else in XXL. They are almost comically large compared to the XL's. It's at least a 2 size difference. I guess I'll return these and get another pair in XL and see how it works out. Maybe Vuori has changed their sizing in the past year?
