Perfect for hikes or town
I bought this model for our travels through South Dakota and Michigan. So far I've worn them in a dark, damp, slippery cave with ladders and some scrambling. I've worn them on hikes where I need to climb up smooth boulders. I've worn them just walking around town. They look great and have great traction. I'm very happy with them. Only one slightly negative aspect, I have very narrow feet so they have to be kind of cinched up to fit properly. My regular hiking shoes are Merrells and I also have some fashionable water-proof boots that are Merrells. I love all of them.
Thank you for your exceptional feedback!
Loved the older version so much more!!!
I bought these shoes because I had a pair similar to these awhile back that I love to death… so I was excited to see they had something similar still in stock. But unfortunately I do not like these styles nearly as much. They have an annoyed neoprene cuff around the ankle so trying to put them on with ankle socks forces the sock to bunch up and they aren’t all that comfortable with ankle socks either. I do not wear crew socks so it bummed me out that these are not like normal shoes and now I seldom, if ever wear them. So bummed they changed the design or made their most colorful shoes like this one. Dang!
We appreciate your feedback. Thank you.
I love my Merrell’s!
The alpine sneaker is wonderful and very suitable and durable for my lifestyle. They’re all terrain, comfortable, and supportive. I love the color schemes that are available, especially mine, without the purple. I feel safe and sturdy in these shoes, and easy to clean! All terrain… they feel and act waterproof. The Alpine 83 sneaker is probably one of the best purchases I’ve ever made! Thank you!
Great style, may need some reinforcement
They are super comfortable shoes and I love the colors. Unfortunately one of the seams is coming apart. I use them for work daily so inside use only on carpet and tile floors.

Love 'em
Great fit, good support for a lifestyle sneaker. Room for toes to spread out. Don't love attached tongue but it's not a dealbreaker. Love the colors.

Wrong Description and Difficult to Get On
I bought this shoe because I thought it would be a comfortable shoe. I have many different styles of Terrell's, and I love them all. This one, however, is being returned. I can't get it on! Granted, I am disabled, but the the inability to get a Merrell shoe on my foot has never been an issue. First, the description says the tongue is "gusseted." It is not! There simply is no tongue. The top of the shoe is just one piece, and because it rises high the foot, you have to be a gymnast to get it on. There is no slipping it on because the opening is waaaaaay too small for a shoe with no tongue. Merrell, please rethink your description. Gusset is used improperly in your description!
We're sorry to hear of your experience. If we can help please give us a call at 800-288-3124.
Walker’s Paradise!: Merrells Go Miles in Rome
These are my most comfortable and best fitting shoes for walking and exploring! I bought them for a trip to Italy where my husband and I walked just over 30 miles during 4 days in Rome! We also enjoyed walking throughout the Sorrento region. My trip was foot pain-free! Despite walking many uneven and unpredictable surfaces (including Pompeii!), these shoes provided great stability and comfort. Thank you, Merrell!
Comfortable Fun
Available in a cheery orange with tread that offers good grip and stability. Since there is no tongue, your foot slides in and is hugged around the arch. The toe box is rounded with room to wiggle your toes. The insole is removable to accommodate orthotics. I wear an 11 and this shoe does not make my feet look big, is comfortable and fun!
Thank you for the awesome review!
Eyele came out
One of the top eyelids came out after I wore them two times. Disappointed. I bought these with the intention they would be good work shoes. But I noticed the eyelet came out of the leather at work. I don’t think this should happen considering the price of the shoes.
I Have Issues
I bought these sneakers hoping to like them as much as I do a discontinued model sneaker. I thought that the description suggested that they would be easy to get on/off. I do not love these as much as my current pair. First, they aren't that easy to get on and off, which would have been really nice. Second, they are sufficiently taller on the sides that they rub against my ankle bone. All-day comfort? Nah ... not so much. They look nice; they'll like wear well for years; with any luck, time and use will alleviate the rubbing issue. Had they been full-price, I'd consider returning, but I consider them worth the price I paid.
