Amazing bike!
I couldn't be happier with this purchase. I love the Diamondback brand and had one of their lower component bikes for the past year. It was great but I wanted to step it up a bit because I'm riding a lot more. I was talked into a Ghost brand bike by an employee. Even though it was comparable components it didn't seem to shift as smooth as I would like for the cost and I didn't like the fit of the bike for me. It also made a creaking noise. So I returned it a couple days later and got this Diamondback Overdrive Pro for the same cost. Can't even describe how happy I am with this bike, it's exactly what I wanted! It shifts so smooth, shocks are awesome, the fit is perfect for me and it looks sexy. Best bike I've ever had or even rode. Even better that it's on sale now :)
DB Overdrive Pro 27.5
Love this bike. HUGE upgrade over the entry level MTBs I had been riding. I can really feel the difference and it makes me want to ride more often and longer. The bike is fast and nimble and a good climber. Very well built. Gears and brakes are very responsive. This is more than enough bike for the intermediate trails that I ride. I am on the borderline between sizes on the size guide. I took the advice to go with the smaller size since this is an MTB and you don't want to be thrashing around with more size than you need. This proved to be good advice. The DB Overdrive series is a good value at each price point, particularly when the bikes are on sale as was the case with this bike. Just a question of your budget and intended use. I can't compare this to other models in the same price range as my previous experience was with entry level MTB's. I bought this after a fair amount of research and a few bike store visits. I wanted a good all around trail bike that would be efficient and a good climber but that was also tough, nimble and responsive enough to handle some intervals of hard MTB riding and would stand up to some abuse. I decided to buy from REI because I trust them, have had nothing but positive experiences with the store and I knew that it would not be a problem to return the bike if it wasn't a good fit for me after I put it through some paces on the trial. I have very limited time to tinker around with gear so I decided to keep it simple and buy it right the first time. Glad that I did. It is such a pleasure to ride just as it is and there is nothing that I feel any motivation to replace. It also looks great, which is another subtle motivator to get out and ride. I have been out on the trails with this bike for maybe 25-30 hours of riding. Only time will tell how it holds up over the long term. As always, the customer experience with REI was great.
Superb MTB
On the first ride I was very impressed with the handling. It's precise and intuitive over moderate terrain. It's also very smooth and forgiving, which inspires confidence. At the price I paid, it's a terrific deal. I also received several compliments over the appearance of the bike - it's strong but understated. If I had to find a gripe, I'd say it's a little on the heavy side. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and look forward to the next ride.
