Holy cow, does this thing glow. Like, Michael Jackson glow. It's amazing. It fits great as well, a nice flattering cut, and is comfortable to ride in - more fitted at the hip and lots of arm/chest movement. Rode in the rain today and it definitely kept me dry, glad I bought this thing, and wearing it in flash photos will be my new favorite party trick. I got the blue, and I like the color much more than how it shows on here. Never can anyone now say they didn't see me in low light when I'm on my bike or running...

Too heavy
Backpacker
I purchased this jacket because it is waterproof and because it got good reviews. When I opened the package my fist and continuing reaction is how heavy the material is. I guess this isn't a big deal if you are always planning to wear it, but I often bike tour or have long bike days where I take layers and gear with me, so carrying more weight isn't ideal. I ordered a medium because although I am 5'1", I weigh 140 lbs and I didn't want it to constrict around my shoulders or just be uncomfortable. It was definitely too puffy in the front. I probably could have managed with a small. In the end I just couldn't bring myself to carry that much extra weight in my panier bags or camelbak and didn't love it. There are limited other fully waterproof cycling jackets, but I'll be looking for a different one.

Love this jacket!!

I purchased the blue -- love the color. I use this for my early am runs in the dark. Totally comfortable -- was hesitant about the magnets but it's 3seconds on or off...the fit is true to size. Just wish it had front pockets and maybe an inside pocket for my phone but I use a FLIPBELT so that doesn't really matter. It's definitely waterproof-- which surprised me. The other two things on my wish list would be some type of zippers for venting on the sleeves (excessive, I know b/c I can take the sleeves off but...) and I so wish you could also "unzip" from the bottom-up. Highly recommend this jacket..

Poor choice of colors

I bought this jacket recently after trying on every single waterproof biking jacket at an REI store recently. This one was less "crunchy" than the others and I liked the nighttime reflectivity, even though I don't bike at night that often. Like another reviewer, I'm docking a star b/c of the poor color choices. I couldn't stomach the bright Barbie pink so went with the blue instead, but I really would prefer another bright color (yellow, orange, red) for visibility. Also not having front pockets is annoying. But the jacket is comfortable to bike in and doesn't feel like a plastic raincoat, which is the main thing for me. (BTW, an REI salesperson warned me off the Novara rain poncho, saying it was a "Halloween costume" that would catch the wind and get in the way.)

Good for the city commuter

For context: I am a daily bike commuter, regularly navigating city traffic throughout the year. So I'm looking for bike gear that's practical, does its job well, and will last. For brightness, this jacket is hard to beat compared to anything else on the market. While it doesn't light up internally, the all over reflection is pretty spectacular. Go ahead - try and take a selfie with the flash on; you'll end up with a photo of a headless jacket. A fun party trick. Fit wise, it is cut slimmer at the hips, and more generously at the chest/arms. I've been really happy with the fit (I'm curvy), and find that it is very comfortable when riding, even though I move around a lot on my commute. I wouldn't wear this as an around town jacket; it's clearly a technical jacket. Arm length is good for me. For reference, I often wear men's button down shirts, and my sizing is 15.5 neck, 32-33 sleeve. The only zippers are in the back of the jacket, and whether or not you like that is a personal preference thing. I don't mind, but if you like to stash your keys/phone/whatever in a chest pocket or front pockets you are out of luck. The magnetic attachment for the vest conversion works perfectly. I can take off the sleeves while at a traffic light if I get hot (I wouldn't say this jacket is super breathable), and quickly stash the arms in my bag. If I want to put the arms back on, I simply put on the vest first, and then slide on the arms. It all pops together in a moment. Brilliant. I've had the opportunity to ride in both dry and wet conditions. It's a good rain jacket, and will keep you dry. As I mentioned earlier, it's not super breathable, so I wouldn't wear it in warm weather (over 65) unless I had no other option. That said, I anticipate this being a great top layer this coming winter; I'll likely only need a short or long sleeve merino base layer and my Marmot driclime shirt and I'll be set to go for single digits. I'm docking a star because the only color options are pink and blue. Really? Why can't the women's sizing get the high visibility yellow, as the men's version does? Hi viz is best for dawn and dusk, whereas it's less handy for low light conditions - that's where the super reflectivity of the zap jacket outperforms. Combining the two is ideal. I tried on the men's version, but the cut is different and the women's really did fit better. Hopefully that will be corrected in future iterations of this jacket.

Great visibility, stinky pockets

I love how visible I am in this jacket! The visibility is outstanding! I chose the bright pink, so I'm visible day or night. I also love that I can remove the sleeves and wear it as a vest. My one complaint is the fact that they made two small pockets in the back instead of one big one. This wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that the sleeves won't fit into one pocket. So, when I start out early needing my sleeves and then want to remove them when it gets hot, I have to tie them around my waist because they won't store inside the pockets.

Missing some key features

This jacket is super visible day and night. I got the high viz yellow, which is butt ugly but hard to miss, I really wish high viz jackets were reversible so you could look normal when not on the bike. I'm only giving this jacket three stars because it leaks at the zipper in heavy rain, had no hood, and no front pockets. The hood is the worst part as it means rain gets in through the back and you have to change into a different jacket when you get off the bike and take off your helmet. This jacket is great for day or night riding in light rain but little more. So close to being ideal!

Sugoi Zap Versa Bike Jacket

I love the visibility aspect of the jacket as I bike commute year round (no car) but it really could use armpit zips. There is no way to control airflow thru the jacket except by opening the zipper and then you get wet. If you try to detach portions at the top of the jacket in rainy conditions to allow for more airflow you get wet. Fortunately the REI version of this jacket will allow for the addition of pit zips in the underarm panel.

High visability !

I bought this awesome jacket because it is a very bright pink and it has magnets to close the sleeves to vest vs. a zipper. Very innovative and highly functional- oh and did I mention that not only is the color very bright and visable, it lights up like no other and waterproof ! Worth every penny.

Comfortable with easy to remove sleeves

I am really pleased with the fit (I'm a standard size 4 and the Small fits perfectly). The magnetic sleeves can be taken off easily and rolled up for stashing on the ride. The zip, back pockets are easily accessible. The fit is slim, but not tight, and can easily be worn around town with a shirt underneath, without looking like you're wearing biking gear, and it will double nicely for an evening walk with the dog since the pale grey dots which are nearly invisible in the day, reflect artificial light and improve safety.
