Great for the cost
I actually really like this kayak. It performs almost as well as my sea kayak which had a price tag that was 3x greater. The only reason I wouldn't give it a 5 is that a) the front is quite low and even small waves can wash across your lap unless you have a spray skirt, and b) it's disproportionately heavy for it's size (but not terribly so). Overall though, it's a great kayak for the price with a multitude of great features.
Love my new kayak!!!
I have had this kayak for 1 year. I absolutely love how it handles. The seat is very comfortable. It is easy to paddle. I mostly use it on the ocean and it remains steady in choppy water.
Great boat for the money
This was my second kayak, so I am a beginner approaching intermediate. Probably an accurate self-assessment. I do not have a broad knowledge of different kayaks. I come from sailing small boats. However, this one was so much fun that I have since purchased an inflatable and a smaller sit-on-top for some river runs. This kayak is not designed to run rapids in a river, although I did try. This boat is great for crossing open water. One of my favorite trips is an afternoon paddle in the Riot Edge at Canyon Lake. A large recreational lake 30 miles north of San Antonio. On the weekends there are lots of power boats creating swells and waves that come at you from any direction. Lots of fun and good practice for some trips to the gulf soon. I use a spray deck which is like a spray skirt only it does not cinch tight around the waist. It does keep water out of the cockpit when crossing waves. And some of them are three and four feet. Catch them on the bow or beam and expect to ship water. Large boats on this large lake. I am drooling at the thought of riding out in the Gulf of Mexico later this summer. All in all, it's a good boat to learn some basic techniques because it seems to be waiting for more from the paddler. It tracks well, drop the rudder when wind and waves demonstrate the meaning of the term, weather cocking. Rudder down and go where you want. And it goes quick and easy. Dip the paddle and watch the bow slice through the water.
Awesome Kayak
This is a great kayak. The rudder is great feature. Dry storage is real dry storage.
Great Kayak!!!!!!
This kayak turns heads everywhere we go! It is sleek, easy to paddle with or without the rudder. Great stability in rough water.
