Lots of Potential
I was looking for an alternative to my Edge 500. I wanted cadence and heart rate functions without exceeding 200 dollars. Cateye hit a home run with features for the price. I like the backlit display for rides at dusk / dawn. I also like the time of day being part of the screen at all times. My only suggestion for improvement is that the Cateye Atlas and Sync functions are bit tedious. You first launch the sync program then sign into atlas to see what the data shows.
Worked for a few months, then nothing but a pain
I purchased the computer several years ago, I blew the budget, I wanted a good computer. After four or five months I had a problem with my laptop, when I tried to upload data from my ride to strava, it would not let me upload. I called customer support they told me I need to uninstall Cateye and reinstall. That was a problem, I could not uninstall the program. I took the computer to a computer tec guy that has a good rep. He was able to uninstall, great, but still would not let me install Caateye. Four calls to costmer support, emailed them also. I have a speedometer for the cost of a computer. I am saving my money for another brand,
Power button on the back
For the most part this is a good, basic computer. Set up can be a little tedious, but once set up it's pretty easy to run. It measures distance and speed relatively accurately, and it pretty easy to upload to Garmin connect. My biggest complaint about this unit is that the power button is on the back of the unit, I assume to avoid accidental presses. While a good idea in theory, it makes for a REAL PAIN when trying to use the computer. You have to take it off the mount to turn it on or off. Once it goes into standby, you have to remove the computer and turn it back on - very inconvenient for racing! You also have to turn it off if you don't want it to continue to record your ride. Again, you have to take it off it's mount to do this. For this reason I'm going to switch to a Garmin.
Way too complicated to set up
I purchased this unit to replace one that was bothered by interference from my 750 lumen light. This unit was also affected by the interference and it was really tedious (almost impossible) to set up.
