Questionable review before mine
I noticed the other review for these pads and was a little amused by it. In his description of his problems during install, he never mentioned bleeding the brakes to get the piston in the caliper to go back in, thus creating the room he needed to get ANY NEW PAD TO FIT! I've ran these on my Jamis and had no problems what so ever. The key is to know what your doing, as with any repair...but especially the ones that slow you down, speed you up, make you turn, or keep you from running off the cliff in general.
Very good stopping power - one caveat
Have these on my daily commuter riding in all conditions 34 miles per day, 5,000 miles a year. The GOOD: 1. Very good stopping power 2. Excellent modulation 3. They last - I ride moderate hills with quite a bit of braking. Very happy with longevity - 3,000 miles or so 4. Easy to install and bed in The BAD: 1. When wet, they SQUEAL LOUDLY!! However, after rubbing off the water, squealing does stop I'll keep buying these as long as they're available.
Great pads!
I bought these pads before a multi state trail trip (100+trail miles) and man they perform really well. They have literally little to no noise and they grab really well. I tested them on many different levels of trails and i was not disappointed. They worked really well on super steep grades. Like the other reviewer mentioned i believe the other person did not do a proper job of installing them. I would definitely buy these again!
Disappointed
I purchased a set of these pads to replace the rear stock pads that were just about completely worn out. After pressing the caliper back in, I was not able to get these pads to fit without rubbing the disk. And I'm not talking of a slight rub, this is like running the brake engaged. The only way to resolve this was to sand them down on a flat surface with 300 grip paper to take just a little off both pads, which then gave me enough clearance. On the trail, I immediately noticed that these pads did not grip the disk as well as the stock pads, and although they kept quiet, they tended to fade quickly on long downhill runs. After 2 weeks and about 50 miles, the performance still hasn't improved. Seeing that the Avid OE pads are only a couple dollars more, I'll be purchasing them and keeping these as a backup set. I'm glad I didn't replace both sets at the same time, would've really wasted my money.
Way better than the ceramic pads my Rad Rover 6 ca
These pads work great with minimal noise. I've gotten over 1400 miles on them and there's still about 3/4 life left in them. The ceramic ones are too hard and will destroy your rotors like they did mine
