Great hat
Hard to believe how light and how well this hat breathes. I was Leary buying it online since I’m pretty picky about my headwear but taking a chance on this hat really paid off. The material of the crown of the hat is extremely lightweight and quick drying while the side vents of the crown breath extremely well. The brim of the hat is thicker but still pretty light. It’s firm enough to withstand being blown out of shape by the wind while still be omg flexible enough to be folded and packed without losing its shape. The bug repellent system even works to my surprise. Definitely a worth considering if you’re looking for a good, quick drying, breathable, bug repelling hat.
Great hat for desert hikes
I do a lot of desert hiking and this hat offers good protection from the sun. At the same time it is light and cool on my head. Another great feature is that I can just throw it in the wash and the sweat stains disappear. Fits well and looks good too.
Great hat
Love this hat. Very light, good airflow. Had it about a month, so far no issues whatsoever. Worn it for golf on cloudless hot windy days and it def helps. Stays in place really well with the drawstring (20-25 mph winds). Comfy as well, Im not a hat person, but all afternoon in the red rocks lots with no clouds, you def need something, and it worked great, hardly knew i had it on. I like that you can mold the brim somewhat as well. Not a huge fan of the logos and front and back, but thats a minor gripe. Pricier than some other options, but worth it imo.
Great hat
I’ve had the hat for a few weeks now. I’ve used it hiking and at the beach. It’s comfortable and does a great job keeping the sun off. Works well in light rain too. The brim is stiff enough to stay out of the way but soft enough to be comfortable.
Foam inside brim affects fit
This hat has a dense foam in the brim to keep it from flopping. Unfortunately, the foam protrudes into the crown of the hat. Not only does it make the hat feel snug, it also makes the inner sweatband highly visible around the wearer’s head
decent hat, bug protection lacking
I bought this hat and have used it a few times. What I like about it is that it’s lightweight, covers a good amount of my face and neck so they don’t get burnt, and dries quickly. It also looks pretty good. The bug shield seems to keep away the flying biting insects…but with that being said it doesn’t keep away all insects. The insect shield is permethrin based so it only effectively repels mosquitos and ticks. Two significant bugs that you don’t want near you. This will do nothing to the annoying gnats and other buggies that you may see on the trail. Just keep this in mind as the information on the product itself makes it appear it’ll repel all insects. All in all I’d recommend this, but I took away a star due to the misleading bug shield info.
Cool and Comfortable
I'm particular about my hats; they have to fit right and be cool and comfortable. This OR hat met all my criteria. It's lightweight; it doesn't absorb a lot of sweat, but does an OK job with it. It fits well, and the adjustable elastic band isn't unnatural or bunchy. Best of all, it has very good air circulation, much better than would appear from photos or a casual examination. The brim isn't huge, but it's slightly stiffened all around to provide shade where you want it most. I haven't been anywhere buggy with it yet, so I can't speak to the insect repellent feature.
Get this!
I bought this because it was bug repellent! But... it is also awesome at keeping the sun off your face and neck. What I found is that you can cinch it up on the back of your head and... there’s a chin strap! (You can stuff the strap above your head when you don’t need it) I did a 4 pitch route upon Tuolumne, West Country and the wind was howling! I cinched both straps up and it never flew away!!! I’m in love with this hat!!! <3
Kept my head cool, the sun off, and the bugs away!
I wore this hat on a 98 degree day with the top off my Jeep and it stayed in place and kept my head cool. Next I wore it cut grass. Same result. Then I really tested it. I wore it while working on a wetland survey. Heat, mosquitoes, ticks, humidity, etc... Not one single bug even got close to me, and I did not have on extra insect repellent. Great hat!
Bug repellant eats skin
I was really enjoying this hat. Unfortunately, the sweat mixed with the bug repellant was eating the skin off my forehead and temples. It took 2 months to figure out the cause of my problem and switch to an old hat. The side effects from the repellant are still there but not as bad. The repellant is guaranteed for up to 70 washes so I am going to have to toss this hat.
